Canada still has the most expensive cell phone services in the world. by zeruullnin canada

[–]zeruulln[S] 0 points1 point ago*

Late reply to this but you make an awesome point.

I actually really considered offering cell phone insurance as a business model but it would be too difficult to insure something with such a low value and make a profit.

A cell phone is only 500 - 700$ maximum people wont pay more then 5-10$ a month to insure them, someone has an old phone or just wants to be an ass there is nothing stopping them from smashing it intentionally to request a new one.

You can't prevent this by threatening to increase rates because they wont go up by much or they could just cancel.

For example with a car if someone crashes their car police are involved they or the person who crashed into them are usually legally responsible and a lot of the times end up with charges / either way a police investigation is usually done and insurance on a car is much more expensive so when the premiums go up it makes a large difference, and you NEED insurance for a car in many places or you can't drive it so you can't just cancel it if you don't like the increases.

For a cell phone police aren't going to require a report when people break them so there it would be pretty much impossible to prove fraud for the people who would abuse the system and in the long run you would lose more money then you would make offering insurance for cell phones so it can't really be done.

It is an awesome idea in theory but because of people who always try to find loopholes and abuse things it is not really possible. I actually know rogers used to offer this in a plan for a bit extra but completely changed it so physical damage / water damage, etc is not covered - only mechanical failure because of people abusing it. I don't know about you but I've never been able to keep a phone long enough for it to break on its own without me dropping it in water or smashing it by accident first. I got a otter box defender series case for my iphone and work on 20 foot ladders / have dropped it a couple times with surprisingly no damage, so far longest I've been able to keep a phone.

Your friend is a fucking lazy leech on society I have the utmost respect for people willing to actually try and work for a living or to support a better education and zero respect for people with "I'm above that" attitude like your friend.

Clean Canadian Record, Border Services won't let me pass into the US. by CanIaxeyouaquestionin legaladvice

[–]zeruulln 0 points1 point ago

Same goes for the other person I know, it actually was a charge he was told was dropped over 25 years ago, one day after crossing the border many times for years already they ran his name and found traces of the charges that were supposedly dropped.

Pay like 15-20$ for a criminal record check on yourself I bet you something comes up, if you apply for a pardon it will clear this, however is too late now you are flagged in the us system.

Clean Canadian Record, Border Services won't let me pass into the US. by CanIaxeyouaquestionin legaladvice

[–]zeruulln 0 points1 point ago

Unfortunately if you obtained a pardon before being detained at the us border you would've avoided being entered into the US computers, so you would have been able to pay once for a pardon and never have to worry about it again.

However, because you are now marked with a criminal record in the US system, they do not recognize the Canadian pardon system, so even if you apply for a pardon in Canada and get your record wiped clean in Canada, you will always be flagged in the US system and will require a waiver every time you wish to cross the border.

I know someone who is in the same situation as you.

You know your professor is actively looking to hurt your grade when... by WellThenWhyAskin WTF

[–]zeruulln 1 point2 points ago*

You know most universities allow you to fill out a review and report feedback on all their professors at the end of each term?

Save that paper and send it in for their review, you pay to go to university you shouldn't deal with shit like that.

With this being said, the pure simplicity of what I can read from this lab report and the pure retardation of that mark deduction I highly doubt this is a "professor", this is most likely a high school paper / lab report and a typical douche bag high school teacher mad at life finding any reason to spread misery.

Not all high school teachers are bad, had some cool ones many years ago when I was in highschool, but there is no shortage of miserable high school teachers who are stuck up cunts/bastards, profs are waaay to fucking laid back and don't care enough to give you a deduction for some bullshit like that, hell I got drunk with 90% of the profs I had going through university at least once.

My 7 lb Lake Trout caught ice fishing this past Friday afternoon [Northern Ontario] by llevacin Fishing

[–]zeruulln 1 point2 points ago*

A lot of the times I will go out and get my 1 nice big laker then relocate to shore while watching some tip-ups closer to shore (like 1-4 feet of water) / terrible spot to fish way to shallow, but some times I get lucky and get a smaller straggler. (the lake is super shallow for a hundred yards or so from shore then gets deep out in the middle with some nice bars and dropped areas, which is one reason it is so great for lake trout) and work on the fire for cooking and getting my drunk on / my friends are a bunch of lazy bastards and we wouldn't eat if I didn't start the fire. A lot of times I just have my nice big lake trout combined with 4 specks from the lake we go to after.

Next time I go out which should be one weekend soon I will take some pictures of the fatties in this lake and bring my aquaview and try to upload some nice underwater footage. Which actually reminds me, does anyone know of a way to hookup the video output of an aquaview to an iphone to record or store the video footage?

Sorry I edited this post like 30x so it made sense, am half in the bag right now.

But because this lake is so remote there is hardly any MNR I was only stopped once on the way back to town and it was not even close to that area, I am almost positive we had some that were too large but they were all frozen together from being in the same bag overnight so I think they just did a general species and count check would've been impossible to measure them.

Either way thanks for making me check the regs possibly saved me a potential fine or license suspension :| I am a lot more careful with hunting regulations and just went by word of mouth for fishing regs, learned not to trust what people say - going to be reading them all yearly my self from now on.

I usually make it worth while when I go to the lake mentioned in my previous comment, as it is 2 hour drive by car then about another 45 minutes by snowmobile TBH by the end of the day we are usually trashed beyond walking / stay the night since it is so far.

When I go I usually hit the lake trout lake first and we usually limit out in an hour or so (the new limit is only 2 lake trout per person / only one larger than 22 inches) then go to another lake near by to fish for specks and get another 3. (the combined total can only be 5 per person, 2 lakers and 3 specks or 5 specks).

By far the most insane ice fishing I've seen / it is a summer only fly in lake and I've never seen a single person out there in the winter in the many years I've been going. We are careful to hide our initial tracks so nobody follows us in. A friends dad is a trapper and took a few of us when we were younger, since then we have told nobody else.

I usually don't have problems sharing my fishing spots / don't care that much but this is probably the only area I refuse to ever take anyone new until I have a son to show.

I will tell you it is somewhat closer to blind river than here though :P

I wasn't asking what lake, I was asking near what city I live in Sudbury, Ontario (also northern Ontario) was just wondering if you were close.

Trust me I don't need to steal your spots :P I know a lake about 2 hours from here where 7lb lake trout are small and with a few other lakes near by loaded with nice specks. It is a fly in only area but I know a way into it in the winter, trust me I don't need to steal your spots :P.

Canada still has the most expensive cell phone services in the world. by zeruullnin canada

[–]zeruulln[S] 1 point2 points ago*

I work in the mining industry and yes there are in some locations (not all) service for the people working there, those towers are put there at the expense of the company that owns the mine and typically only cover a very small area close to that mines property.

Your second point is actually agreeing with what I was saying, that Canada has a huge amount of land that is not populated and is not going to have service / no coverage where people don't live (less area to cover = less money spent on infrastructure). So I am not sure what you are trying to argue there, that was actually my point?

Also,

lim·it·ed/ˈlimitid/
Adjective:
Restricted in size, amount, or extent; few, small, or short: "a limited number of places are available".

It is not truly "unlimited" if after a particular amount of usage they limit that service in any way, even if they do not completely cut you off... It is still being "limited".

We have some of if not the most half assed bylaws in Canada, and are usually the last to get any form of new technology.. not even going to get started on that subject.

It is people with an attitude like you who allow things like this to go on for so long and not be challenged.

No I do not think this will instantly "force" anything to change over night but you have to start somewhere and with an attitude like "nothing is ever going to happen" nothing will happen. The more people who organize the more power you have to spread the word to make change and the more people open their eyes to what is going on and help make that change, we do live in a democracy even if it is broken.

Already from this post alone I have learned a lot of people believe in some misconceptions about why we are paying more and from this post they have probably learned about those misconceptions and why they are wrong.

Also, some people were even unaware of the fact we pay so much more then everyone else who now know better.

So I would say even if this post taught 1 or 2 people about what is going on then it is already one step in a better direction then if I didn't create this post. Plus who knows maybe those 1 or 2 people are in a position to help inform others and help make a change?

I agree totally which is why I want to organize to raise awareness of this issue and force a major reconstruction of our bullshit communications infrastructure and regulatory body's.

With the success reddit had on raising awareness with SOPA in USA I seriously doubt it will but hope this post helps begin change here in Canada.
