Lightening appears to take time to seek out a pathway enabling us to see the direction of propagation. Either that, or lightening is a series of strikes over the same pathway, each extending it a bit in the direction of propagation.

That is certainly true, but every type of egg is different. The chicken egg is as much a product of evolution as is the chicken. The lineage between a dinosaur-like ancestors to the modern chicken is a gradient of incremental changes. And, the same applies to the egg. It's impossible to point at a gradient and declare which came first.

No. I'm just pointing out that the chicken-and-the-egg problem is a bootstrapping problem. Neither really came first. Rather, there were incremental changes to both that ultimately evolved into the chicken-egg cycle. You are correct that eggs existed long before chickens, but chicken eggs did not. Both the characteristics of the egg and the creature hatched from it drifted together.

The first click is never a mine. The mine field is effectively generated after you take that first click. That said, this situation all comes down to the odds of the second click.

I was always amazed that the dogs that my parents owned would always relax on the chairs and couches like that. I always wondered how they knew they were soft and comfy. How can they possibly comprehend furniture?!

What's a weird thing you do regularly (preferably non-sexual) that you can't just tell other people? by YouKnowHerin AskReddit

8 years ago, I started work in an office that shared a common men's room with another office on the same floor. The men's room had an outer and an inner door. It was kind of like an airlock. Actually, it was most likely constructed to prevent people wandering outside to get a glance inside. The inner door was really annoying because after you washed your hands, you had to pull on 2 doorknobs to get out, a double contamination. In an attempt to remedy the situation, I went out to Home Depot and bought a large rubber doorstop similar in shape to your block. I propped the inner door open. A few hours later, the doorstop was stolen. That made me very sad and I had to continue opening both doors to enter and exit the men's room for several years after the incident.
