Any tips for a new band? And any tips for guitarists in a new band? by yokaishinigamiin Guitar

[–]yokaishinigami[S] 0 points1 point ago

I will when we get something going. So far we have the black keys/ white stripes type of line up.we've been working on finding one more person to add to the band. We're actually going to be recording our demo this month, before we go into a studio and record an EP at the end of the summer

The MXR classic overdrive might be a good place to start and it'll only cost you about 40 bucks.

Dcurry had stated that water and earth are not lethal forms of bending. I was simply stating that earth and water bending can be much more lethal than fire. however, fire bending is more likely to hurt and kill, not because you instantly die when a fire blast hits your face (Zuko, potentially Amon disprove this) but because almost any firebending has an offensive capability. Fire burns. You can't really use it purely as a defensive or restraining art like the other bendings.

I'm fairly certain both my schecters have those (although the locking nut makes them a little redundant) and they are awesome.

What's r/guitar's opinion on playing in public with an autographed guitar? by TenaciousBein Guitar

[–]yokaishinigami 1 point2 points ago

My main guitar is a Schecter Synyster Custom. I've used it for a couple times live. I've only played live 3 times so far..

Yeah, i think it's going to hurt my professionalism a little, because way too many people make a big deal about using signature models. But I think it's a cool guitar, I like to use, so I'm going to use it. End of story.

As far as lethality is concerned, I think water/earth bending, with their ice/metal parts would be the most efficient and lethal at killing if they wanted to be.

Lightning bending too would result in quick kills. Fire on the other hand takes longer, and is less effective in doing lethal amounts of damage in a short period of time, unless it's at blistering high temperatures.

However, while air, water and Earth bending can often be used passively, or defensively, Firebending in combat seems to almost always have a offensive nature to it, because of how fire works. (Except for the true masters who can apparently only burn exactly what they want.) On the other hand. A an earth/water/air bender would be able to restrain the opponent, or just plain old knock them out.

Given her personality I think this would be doubtful. As a former martial artist, It's always easier to think of what could have been done in a fight while watching it from afar, than when you're actually in it. A lot of your actions have been more or less predetermined by your preparation and personality. You rarely have the opportunity to think strategically in such a situation.

Actually, he used airbending to knock Sozin across the throne-room as he countered Sozin's initial attack.

He then destroyed the throne-room with airbending following Sozin's defeat.

though you are right, he didn't use it for very long.

The most fun conversation I've had in a guitar store in a while. by 3d6in Guitar

Oh, I didn't mean you. I meant a lot of people, especially going in to buy their initial high end instruments will often go straight for a Gibson/Fender without trying out brands of similar make/quality.

The most fun conversation I've had in a guitar store in a while. by 3d6in Guitar

[–]yokaishinigami 0 points1 point ago

That's not completely true. I often recommend brands like Schecter and PRS, Ibanez over Gibson (which I have a hard time finding consistency within, but when the get it right, they get it right) and Fender (though Fender is slowly winning me back for their bolt on's) because I honestly have had a better experience with those brands.

Having said that, I take no issue with someone buying a Gibson, or Fender, or Martin or any of the "overpriced" guitars. Because in the end, it's your money, and your guitar and if you don't totally dig it, why buy the thing? I simply say. Hey So since you seem to like the Gibson Les Paul, Why not try out a Schecter Solo, or an ESP eclipse while you're at it. Basically, don't just jump the brand wagon, because if you're like me, you might walk in all ready to get a gibson, and find a Schecter suits you better.

(Also it's tough to beat a Martin)

What Does r/guitar think of PRS SE models? Worth the price? by fighterfan25in Guitar

[–]yokaishinigami 2 points3 points ago

At that price point PRS SE is one of the best. I would also check out Schecter, since they have some great models in that range. I've found the build quality of both brands to be toe to toe, and I'd say it's worth trying out both.

Can I get a guitar custom made? If so how much will it cost? by Entguitarist_816in Guitar

[–]yokaishinigami -1 points0 points ago

Not sure, but schecter has one, and they're pretty damn good at humbucker guitars.

Though I think gibson does too, because I recall a post recently showing off a custom gibson that Halestorm's front woman got.

Since Zuko was my favorite character in the original series, I'm waiting for either a flashback of Older Zuko, or a present scene with Elder Zuko.
