I suspect it's related to guerilla/viral marketing on Reddit. See here.

Really? What is the basis for this?

Yeap! Those kinds of places are really careful about discreet packaging. Go forth and purchase without fear of embarrassing boxes arriving in the mail.

What is your "go to" brand, item, store, or restaurant ? by xhakuin AskReddit

Subway. Even in Costa Rica on my last day waiting for my flight, I walked to the nearest Subway restaurant for some of my beloved Oven Roasted Chicken Breast.

The movie is based on the very same experiment. There's also a German one called "Das Experiment" which I've heard is stronger than the English. As always though, if you're actually interested in the psychology behind it, definitely read the book.

I think what was most surprising to me was how the prisoners so quickly forgot that it's just an experiment and bought into the whole thing so completely. Several times throughout the book Zimbardo comments how at any point the prisoners could have bowed out of the experiment with no consequences and yet didn't. They just submitted to the guards' authority.

You know how you throw your jacket on a chair at the end of the day? Well, like that, except instead of a chair, it's a pile of garbage. And instead of a jacket, its a pile of garbage. And instead of the end of the day, it's the end of time, and garbage is all that has survived!

Also relevant: Stanford Prison Experiment

The book the Lucifer Effect by Philip Zimbardo (the experimenter) goes into the experiment quite extensively and talks about why otherwise good people do bad things because of situation factors. Factors like you mentioned - differing authority, lack of personal accountability, etc.

Very interesting insight into the evil of human beings.

How to be more girly by dscreamin AskReddit

[–]yamz66 0 points1 point ago

I used to be exactly the same. You definitely don't have to change who you are, I think it's just more about refining it. I found that sometimes I'd go out of my way to not be girly and that contributed a lot to the butch vibe.

Lavacat nailed it with the comments about eyebrows, tshirts, etc. Those little "taking care of yourself" things will really go a long way to making you more girly and maybe take the edge off the butchiness.

You don't have to wear pink and be squeaky and high pitched. My go-to outfit is still a black tshirt and jeans and the occasional baggy hoodie. Well-fitting clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident will do wonders for attracting guys that will like you for who you are.

The most important thing is to love who you are. Hell, spend time in front of a mirror admiring yourself. Confidence radiates and it's damn sexy no matter what you're wearing.

I need help for my girlfriend, Reddit. What should she do? Read and suggest please. by GrenadeNationin AskReddit

The world is full of people like this. Petty people who think the world revolves around them. They will not be rational, or courteous, or all around good human beings. They'll lure you in at first convincing you that they're good friends and have a lot to contribute to your life. But in the end you'll find out that they don't. They'll be parasites and just use you to make themselves feel better about their shitty existence. But since you've grown to believe that they're good people you'll find it hard to let go, to believe the truth about them. But the sooner you do it the better off you'll be. And in the future you'll learn to recognize those people faster, before you get too attached and cut them off before they have a chance to latch on. You'll be happier and know who your friends are. You won't have to deal with ambiguous relationship bullshit and guess how the people around you really feel.

This is no one's fault but the friend's. If she truly cared about fixing whatever's actually wrong, she would communicate like a functioning human being not an irrational ball of emotion. Most likely there is no real rational reason and it's just a character flaw and she will never change.

Move on and live your life.

Edit to add TL;DR: You and your girlfriend shouldn't waste time on people like this. Say goodbye and never look back.

I wish I had a less obstructed view of the CN Tower, but I'll take what I can get. Being on the 22nd floor is quite nice though.

I'm familiar with lightning photography techniques, but I find it's still extremely based on luck - right place right time kind of thing. It seems in Toronto we don't get enough epic lightning storms with defined bolts.

I got this pic last year from my balcony (its actually composite). Unfortunately it was windy and my tripod was too light so the skyline is blurry.

Sunset, HDR. [Technical][Composition][Center of Interest][Technique] by RC-Roi92in photocritique

[–]yamz66 0 points1 point ago

Kudos on natural looking HDR.

It may just be my OCD but I wish the centre between the mountains landed on the centre of the picture which also would align with that big rock in the foreground. I think it would give the picture a very strong somewhat symmetrical but not quite centre line. Right now the cropping of the picture feels a bit awkward to me.

Otherwise, great colours and overall composition.

I like it! I kinda wish it was a much larger close up of the eye so the sunset is super discernable.
