And having a complete monopoly is the only way to hurt the public?

Facebook poll results. by andrewsmith1986in funny

[–]xtfftc 0 points1 point ago

I don't mind Facebook, Youtube, or Twitter posts, they are often very funny. The only thing I mislike is that instead of having a relevant title, the submissions are called things like "Oh Youtubers" or "Facebook you so funny". The jokes have nothing to do with the site used to spread them out.

[s]Star Tale Ace In PvZ GSL by ShiniSamain starcraft

[–]xtfftc 14 points15 points ago

Why do you assume that it was a momentary decision? It's much more realistic to suggest that at one point some Startale/Quantic protoss realised it's a smart thing to do and ever since their players are prepared to feedback their own moterships when playing vs zerg.

EG has a ton of money to buy players, why don't they buy a korean coach? by will999909in starcraft

What does this have to do with anything? We're talking about team management. The people who run the business are not the people who play the game.

There's this thing called "context". In the context of his comment (at least we agree that it was stupid and irrelevant), what I wrote was meaningful and appropriate.

What I wrote makes sense in the context of the first post I replied to, and what you posted is hardly relevant.

It's not like everyone who posts something provides a link with evidence? Perhaps we're having a discussion? Perhaps someone who has more info on it would read it and have something to add? Why even post a poitnless comment like yours instead of simply downvoting? Why didn't you ask the same question to the person I replied to? I remember finding out about the study after reading an article about the big stars of porn. Jenna Jameson was one of the examples, and a quick check on her Wikipedia article shows that she was indeed gang raped

iNcontroL as Day[9] HA! by staythepathin starcraft

[–]xtfftc 19 points20 points ago

He wasn't in the position to "hire" her but even if he had, that's not a problem. Anna was perfectly qualified for the position and did a great job, just like with every other SC2 event she's hosted.

iNcontroL as Day[9] HA! by staythepathin starcraft

I mostly like Incontrol but it must be noted that he only expressed a critical opinion about Day9 after a few days of criticism towards Day9 by other community members... It feels a bit like jumping on the bandwagon.

I don't understand how anyone else could enjoy them by Frumtasticin funny

There's different kinds of clubs: nice ones and boring ones. When you go to some stupid place where they play some shitty music and there's lots of jerks around, it's only natural to feel awkward. Unless you're intoxicated or retarded, that is.

Stork on KESPA. Player conditions - FXOBoSs by pikagruein starcraft

The assumption that people like Flash would only work hard if they're bullied by an organisation like KeSPA doesn't make a lot of sense either.

The GD Studio and why you should watch them. by Metabiein starcraft

[–]xtfftc 1 point2 points ago

I actually emailed 2GD about this - that perhaps they could have a "main" part for the talkshows that is more focused, and then a second part when they do whatever they feel like doing. He replied that they'll try to accomodate people who don't have asmuch spare time somehow.

I started playing BLC because the GD studio guys are promoting it. It's a lot of fun. :)

Just one addition - 2GD actually works for Twitch, on a position similar to djWHEAT's.

Person #1 flamed people on the internet. Person #2 threatened someone he will meet sooner or later face-to-face with physical harm. What does person #3's mental condition have to do with it?

Seriously, does someone having mental problems mean that it's okay to punch him/her?

James "2GD" Harding to Sundance and Lee about MLG and KeSPA exclusivity by Dearnin starcraft

[–]xtfftc 1 point2 points ago

It's not a bad thing - but mindless fanboyism doesn't help. Day9 does a lot of good for the scene but if people think that this is out of pure devotion and love for the community, they might make wrong judgements. A bit of realism doesn't hurt.

I'd just like to point out how happy I am that people like Rotterdam and Gretorp are getting more and more recognition. Rotterdam always had his fans and was never hated like Gretorp but he wasn't inthe spotlight as much as he should have been.

What Day[9] did with the ahgl was incredibly important in legitimizing the scene.

No it wasn't. Amateur leagues are amateur leagues; they have nothing to do with the professional scene. All it did was prove that in these gigantic internet corporations there's a lot of people who like playing StarCraft... as if it needed to be proven.

Now, Day9 has every right tocast a league like this to make some money if he wants to. I'ts perfectly fine if he spends some of his time to make money, so that he can continue doing things like the D9D for the community. But let's no act as if absolutely everything he does is an incredible good for the scene, because it's not.

ITG is ITG, not SOTG. The concept behind the two shows is very different, and the only thing in common is Incontrol.

Not all, just most. I remember reading about the percentage of porn actresses that have been gang raped before joining the industry, and it was ridiculously high. Couldn't find the study now though.

iNcontroL clarifies the situation by jsxpin starcraft

[–]xtfftc -3 points-2 points ago

True.

An organised attempt to deceive the community to create even more hype sounds like typical EG PR - but then again all it does at the moment is play down the Thorzain acquisition, so they have reasons either way.
