Unfortunately one bad experience can ruin a life time of trust between a dentist and a patient.

Glad your wisdom teeth teeth extraction went better x

Horrid pain- can't get fixed till Monday. by risto1116in Dentistry

[–]xpinhillsx 0 points1 point ago

Try clove oil. Clove oil contains eugenol, a natural pain killer and antibacterial. Mix 2 to 3 drops of pure clove oil with 1/4 teaspoon olive oil. Saturate a cotton ball with the mixture and place the cotton ball beside the tooth. But try to keep the area clean, find a mouthwash that contains chlorhexidine gluconate. Rinse with this. But use it at a different time of day to brushing, and don't use it for to long as it stains the teeth (can be moved with a scale from the dentist) and taints taste.

Hope this helps. Toothache sucks ass.

Question about fillings and pain when chewing. by captainburpin Dentistry

[–]xpinhillsx 0 points1 point ago

I think it sounds like a hair line crack possibly on the cusp, since it hurts when you bite. Might be an idea for her to remove the filling and drill the crack out and replace with a lining and filling. However this does mean a larger filling and the possibility the crack is deep. But if its causing you pain it might be worth going down this road.

I have patients that are 60+ that are terrified, patients that are as hard as nails but are scared and parents that are so scared they have made their children so fearful (even though they've never had treatment). We are trained to help people through their fears, some clearly better than others!

Reeces pieces, chocolate chips and nutella. by xpinhillsxin Baking

[–]xpinhillsx[S] 4 points5 points ago

As the masses demanded this (and I give in to peer pressure really easily!), here's the recipe....

Nutella, chocolate chip & Reese’s Pieces Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature ½ cup Nutella 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed 1 large egg 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1/2 cup of Reese’s Pieces 1/2 cup of chocolate chips/drops

Directions:

In a large bowl, cream butter, Nutella, sugar, brown sugar, egg and vanilla together with an electric mixer.

Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix to combine.

Stir in Reese’s Pieces and chocolate chips, cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator for 20 to 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 180degrees.

Place  1tbsp of rounded dough onto the cookie sheet about 2 inches apart.  Bake for 10 minutes on the middle oven rack. (while these are baking put the dough back into the fridge).

Let cool on baking tray for about 2 minutes and then transfer the cookies onto a cooling rack.

Makes approx. 24 cookies.

Store cookies in an airtight container.  Cookies will become softer overnight in the airtight container.

The Recipe (this is a completely made up recipe, so I'm sorry if measurements aren't exact.)

Ingredients (mince) 1x large onion, finely chopped 2x cloves of garlic, finely chopped/crushed 4x rashes of bacon, chopped into pieces 800g of minced beef 2x tins of chopped tomatoes 2tbsp tomato puree 1x beef stock cube Mixed herbs, as much or as little as you desire 1/2 a tomato tin of water

Ingredients (white sauce) 2tbsp butter 2tbsp plain flour 2 1/2 cups milk salt and white pepper Optional- I also add a handful of grated cheese.

Lasagna sheets 1x ball of mozzarella extra cheese

Method

Mince In a large sauce pan soften onion in olive oil, about 8mins. Add garlic and cook for a further 2mins. Take out of the pan, and keep to one side. Brown mince. Once browned add the bacon, the cooked onion/garlic, tinned tomatoes- measure roughly 1/2 can of water, tomato puree, mixed herbs, crumble stock cube into the mix. Stir and bring to a gentle simmer, leave for 30-40mins, stirring every so often. Don't worry if it looks really watery, the final result will be gorgeous and thick.

White sauce Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and gradually stir in the milk to get a smooth sauce. Return to the heat and, stirring all the time, bring to the boil. Simmer gently for 8-10 minutes and season with salt and pepper. I usually add a handful of grated cheese because I'm greedy.

Building you lasagna You can see the dish I use in the photo, it's not the most desirable lasagna building dish. Ideally you need a square one, mine has rounded edges. Start with a layer of mince, then a layer of lasagna sheets, then white sauce and repeat. I get about 3 layers. The top should be lasagna sheets and white sauce. I then sprinkle cheese and tear the mozzarella over it. Cover with tin foil and bake for 20mins at 200degrees. After the 20mins are up remove tin foil and bake for a further 20mins. This will make the top golden, crispy and delicious! Serve.
