TROPHY CASE

OK, I have a poo question... by Space_Cranberryin vegetarian

[–]xenocidal 2 points3 points ago

If you've already got the meat, why not eat it? The animal is already dead, so IMO it doesn't hurt to eat.

OR, even better, give it to someone who does eat meat, which will prevent them buying some for themselves. :)

Thank you for your identification and your proper grammar tip! I shall not forget it!

My cousin got a sunburn. by LetsFytingLovein pics

If his skin starts bubbling up then tell him to go to a doctor. That would mean its a second degree burn and the fluid is toxic to his body.

I'm no doctor, but learned this through personal experience :P

At least. When I was ~13 I got a serious burn much like this guy. Within a few days (maybe one?) it started bubbling up. I couldn't eat or drink anything without throwing it up, not even a Dixie cup of water.

Got sent to emergency room. They confirmed that I had a second degree sunburn and gave me an IV. My skin looked a lot like the picture you linked of the second degree burn. It was nasty.

Mind you, I only got this on my shoulders. I can't imagine the pain of having it on my entire torso. I hope the OP's friend fares better than I.

P.S. I'm also terrified that I'll die of skin cancer because of this incident.

Thank you! Much appreciated. Makes me feel good to get it right!

I agree, live birds are much more entertaining, beautiful, and less stinky. :P

Just this evening my wife and I were fortunate enough to spot two humming birds in what appeared to me to be a mating ritual. One would give chase until the other stopped, they would both hover a bit, then they would both land and make a sprinkler type noise. They proceeded to repeat over and over. Very interesting!

Just wondering, does anyone know if there's a term for a diet which excludes the meat of farmed animals, but which includes the meat of wild ones? by maddropsin vegetarian

[–]xenocidal 1 point2 points ago

I understand that argument, but it holds no sway for me. The only reason they are "hard on the ecosystem" is because humans have effectively destroyed their natural predators.

Further, what is the most overpopulated species on the planet that causes the greatest harm to any ecosystem? Humans. By the previous arguments logic it seems that it is necessary to hunt humans down until they are at a reasonable level...

I am just wondering, how many of you hate the church? by Bashere9in exmormon

[–]xenocidal 9 points10 points ago

No, I don't hate TBMs at all. Sometimes they can be annoying because they are all so similar, but that really has to do with monoculture than anything else.

The church bothers me because I don't think they are honest in their dealings with members. I believe they cause a lot of unnecessary harm, especially among families.

I think hate is a strong word. I hate certain aspects of the church (such as prop 8, treatment of women, etc.) but I don't hate it all. I'm happy when they contribute to charity and help out when disaster strikes.

But you should understand that I don't single out the Mormon church for these reasons. I despise any religion that partakes in these negative activities/positions.

Why is it not ok for the animal to suffer in a factory farm execution, but ok for it suffer a prey's death? Sometimes prey can suffer just as much or more from the process of being hunted.

Sorry to be "that guy". It just doesn't seem consistent for people to care about one but not the other.

In Cold Blood is a first printing. Excellent condition, the cover doesn't have any tears. I do remember spending $10 on that one.
