Analysts say Google is planning to acquire 4chan (not really) by wtstephensin technology

Of course not, it is in the article's title. Meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek.

How do you guys cope with job interviews? by twolittleducksin socialanxiety

[–]wtstephens 0 points1 point ago

In 2008 I applied to over 40 places and did not get a single interview, I know what it's like. Keep trucking and keep applying.

BTW, might help to look for an overnight job if your anxiety is that crippling. Something where maybe you can stock a store or something in the calm of the night and not have to deal with customers. Could help you ease back in.

Ok, what I did is this - I applied to a bunch of BS places that I knew I would not work at. I set up my interviews sequentially and treated them as practice - to be followed by the one I actually wanted.

It was really great doing this. You need to think of the interviews like a game. You want to end up walking away thinking "holy crap! they really seemed receptive to this!" It will help build your confidence for the interview you really want.

It also doesn't hurt to have a glass of wine before an interview. Alcohol relaxes the muscles and in small quantities decreases your anxiety. Only use it as a drug in rare cases, though, because us anxiety cases are quite prone to the addiction.

True, but keep in mind even if it is psychosomatic treatment it is treatment none-the-less. It is possible that this may only act a a bandage, as it may come back - but if it does then you know you can get over it because you have the experience.

Windows 8 Schools Google Chrome In Building A Great User Experience by stuartfin Adgeek

[–]wtstephens 0 points1 point ago

While Windows 8 is fresh, it is confusing as hell. The consumer preview doesn't actuallyteach the user how to navigate it - you have to figure out all the hot spots on your own.

While it looks cool, it now takes more time and more clicks to be able to do things. Don't know how I feel about that.

Even still, Chrome OS is built from Linux and won't get you viruses or lag down as time passes.

Although this would win a Darwin Award, I think ethically you should step in and tell them what they are doing.

I'm going to give offline Affiliate marketing a shot, what do you think of this flyer? by adzeyin marketing

I'm in Gen Y so I'm conditioned to feel this layout looks spammy. I'm unsure if this will translate the same way for older generations or not.

What country is this talking about? US law is 70 years AFTER death of copyright holder.

BAM! Social Media Conference 2012 coming to Huntington May 31st by wtstephensin WestVirginia

[–]wtstephens[S] 1 point2 points ago

It's ran by the Paramount Arts Center. This is the first year of the conference, which is why you haven't heard of it before. It is largely targeted toward businesses in WV, KY and OH. I'm applying to be a presenter. If I get accepted my presentation title would be "How to be Influential: social cultivation on the social web."

Facebook to Brands: You're Posting Stuff Wrong by stuartfin Adgeek

[–]wtstephens 0 points1 point ago

The problem with this is it assumes getting 'likes' is the objective. Also, it doesn't look at how personalized shares might enhance shares directly about the brand. I suggest the personal shares enhance people caring about the brand, which becomes obvious when the ones about the brand retrieve the most "likes."

Any other online daters with this issue? by JustForTheHalibutin loseit

[–]wtstephens 2 points3 points ago

It's my opinion you need to update. What it is saying is "I am someone who is trying to take care of my body," especially if you leave the past pics up. That way they know what to expect, and maybe you will end up with someone that can also have the same drive.

Maybe you can even caption it "Just lost x amount of pounds and thought I'd put a new pic up."

And, of course, congrats on the 16 pounds lost. Keep it up!

  1. When I purchase .25$ drinks, it is usually on the spot. I do it because I am incredibly thirsty, therefore they seem to be that much more awesome.

  2. Laughing is sooo 1990s. Nowadays we LOL.

  3. Not myself, per-se, but I do my doppelganger.

The first question is testing your marketing knowledge. The second question is testing how easy you will be to integrate into a team. The third question is testing that you are not an asshole, as well as that you can handle questions truthfully and diplomatically. That's how I would answer.
