It's not in Ontario. I have never had a day off work on November 11 and I have never been paid time-and-a-half for working that day. When I was in elementary school I remember going to assemblies on November 11 for half the school day but we were still expected to attend classes and teachers were obviously expected to work. In high school we didn't even have assemblies dedicated for remembrance day.

Nobody I know has ever had a day off on 11/11

edit: According to wiki, remembrance day is not a stat holiday in Ontario, so employers are not legally required to treat 11/11 as a holiday, but most provinces treat the day as a stat holiday
