Do people here support Scottish independence? by salakastoin europe

[–]withpants -1 points0 points ago

It sounds like a good idea for them on the surface, but they could very easily end up with a devalued currency and have to ship cheap goods over the border to England, essentially becoming even more dependent on England in the long run.

The oil & gas will run out sooner rather than later, and suddenly they will realise that with a population of 6 million, a government department soon becomes one man/woman and his/her photocopier.

A weakened navy will mean that fishing grounds will be abused by Icelandic\Spanish\and other fleets.

Looks more like a copper sulphate/ammonia solution.

Another horrible abuse of Photoshop...

I saw them on that super-loud tour of clubs some time in the 80's. At the end, none of the audience made a sound. I was on the verge of collapsing through the whole show because of the immense bass sound.

Needless to say, I went to see them again a month later!

I've got the original Shelter video compilation this comes from. There's loads of fey indie bands playing around with super 8 cameras, and then suddenly comes this anvil to the fucking head!

Looks like a great place to get your camera ruined!

It's horrible, tasteless mass-produced chemical plant beer. I hate to think that people form opinions about British beer on the basis of drinking it instead of a real ale.

Is that their "Tribute" to MCA?

The Beastie Boys did that years ago.

What is the most you've ever spent on a single record? by AISimin vinyl

Do you reckon I could pay for a vacation in Australia with a DJ bag full of well-chosen used LP's to sell at a used record shop?

Anyone here ever get to see a bands first ever gig before they were massive? by mrbluesky88in AskReddit

I had tickets to see them on their first UK tour (I think - Funeral had either just come out or was about to come out) in Manchester, but couldn't be arsed to go.

r/vinyl, how do you pack your records for a move? by kiteandkeyin vinyl

[–]withpants 1 point2 points ago

Put your worst records at the ends as they are the ones most likely to get damaged.

Pack them into sturdy plastic boxes with handles and no lid. If there is a lid on, the person carrying the records is not tempted to tip them over.

Do it yourself. You should be able to fit your records into the car easily enough.

Saw them in Sunderland once with half a dozen police vans waiting outside!

I think the influence is most clear on 'Fame Throwa' & 'Conduit for Sale' - they really do sound like a blatant Fall rip-offs. It doesn't bother me in the slightest, though, as they are great tunes!

The Fall are also a big influence on Mission of Burma, though they don't do any straight lifting from them. All fine by me. The Fall are my favourite English band, while Mission of Burma are my favourite American one. Pavement are close behind!
