Until the day I die. (X-post from WTF) by Xyncxin creepy

[–]wildfire18 1 point2 points ago

I do agree in part, the 3/4ths of the book convincing them to save the children in wolves is a bit much, both could have been condenced into one book with a lot more story to it.

I guess the difference for me is I went into W&G expecting something different, only to receive a flashback. Keyhole I pretty much expected what I got. I want to go back now and re-read the series with the new one added in to see how I feel. (Like I need another excuse to read it again :) )

I really disagree due to the main plot point it introduces in its very last line, which adds greatly to the plot introduced in W&G.

My first read of W&G, I felt as though it added nothing at all to the story. I did come to see the point of it, but in my opinion it still is the weakest of the novels.

I found the stories in this novel rather engrossing, and any further introduction of Rolands youth to the story I think enriches all the novels.

I just finished the new novel yesterday. In the foreward, he states to think of it as book 4.5.

All I'll say is I enjoyed it.

I'm 28, only been in one accident at 5mph in a pure ice parking lot, put on over 500k miles traveling, and my mother won't let me drive her 2 miles to see a movie.

"Who wants 2OOO+ Friend Requests?" people on Facebook, wtf is the story with these? Pic inside by Jonnaysin AskReddit

[–]wildfire18 1 point2 points ago

We're from the internet. Yes, we have seen that video, and read that joke 100 times before. But the people that watch the show from my experience don't go on the internet or youtube, and aren't aware of most of his comments being nothing but regurgitation of internet comments.

I bet you found the jokes funny too, the first time you read them, years ago. I agree though, I can't stand his delivery or him.

For me, listening to his show is like reading the top voted comments on youtube videos.

Would reddit be better if only 18 plus were on here? by nazgatenin AskReddit

[–]wildfire18 1 point2 points ago

Sure it would. But why stop at 18? 25 would be even more mature. How about 30? 40?

The thing is, the younger generations do in fact learn from listening to the older. For some of them, this might be their only outlet, or way to converse with anyone at all that will listen.

So, I just got this call.. [internet troubleshooting with CEO] by hesgotabicyclein talesfromtechsupport

[–]wildfire18 19 points20 points ago

I showed up for an internet down call at a restaurant we supported (ISP already confirmed it was an active and working connection). The owner was flipping out yelling at us for breaking the internet, blah blah blah. We told him flat out ahead of time that if it was something he did, he was being billed double time based on the time I left my house, till the time I got home. He agreed right away because of course it was our fault.

I tested the whole network, confirmed that all the cabling was good (he always had issues with rats eating his cables) and was at somewhat of an impasse. After another half hour or so, I figured his router was probably bad. I climbed up into the ceiling to take it down, and low and behold, I found a cable looped onto the router. Unplug it and boom! internet.

This of course leads to a long 'discussion' about how that cable was installed like that when the system was put in about 5 years ago, and how he was never going to pay for this call. I demonstrated by plugging in and unplugging it, like "see? internet works, internet don't work. It isn't possible to have worked like that, someone clearly hooked this up."

I didn't find out what happened with the billing for that, because I said fuck it and left it up to the other department.

Have you ever caused someone to lose their job? by CourtOfMiraclesin AskReddit

[–]wildfire18 19 points20 points ago

Umm, probably dozens by now. First time it was a co-worker at my first job who crossed out and re-wrote the schedule right in front of me, because she didn't like her hours.

Second time was couple co-workers who would blow off their shift to go do blow and show back up wasted, causing me to cover their asses.

The majority of them come from working with POS systems. I've had people quit while I was on the phone with them because I pointed out what they've been stealing. I've had to provide numerous electronic trails showing exactly how a bartender was able to steal 10's of thousands of dollars over the course of a decade.

Excess payroll claims, pretty much any scam in the book I've been able to trace. Just remember people, if you're trying to cheat a computer, you'll get caught.

I agree, but at least from my experience, 9/10 dentists recommend that she just isn't in the mood.

I know what you were talking about, but if you actually think of it as Rocket Propelled Grenades instead, the story still makes sense.

Worst Discovery in a Hotel Room by oyesannetellmein AskReddit

[–]wildfire18 1 point2 points ago

When I have to stay for 5 or 6 days in a hotel, I keep the DND on the door. I don't like my bed being made, or people poking around at my stuff.

The last hotel I was at that I forgot to put it up, I came back to finding my dirty laundry folded up and put in a bag in my suitcase. Kinda freaked me out.

Edit* Yay cake!
