Never thought I'd get the privilege to own this beautiful machine by TheStrangeChildin BMW

That's a beauty! I'd get rid of the clear tails in favor of OEM lights with white or smoked turn signals, and ditch the white bumper side markers, as well. Congratulations!

That's too much work to do for free. It's more likely that they misinterpreted the codes they got from their scan tool as being indicative of a more serious problem.

The SES light turns on if an error occurs several times over a period of time. If it turned off by itself, it's likely that the error stopped occurring.

I would suggest getting a scanner tool such as a Peake to read the error codes stored in your car's computer. You can then consult BMW forums for a preliminary diagnosis based on the symptoms you are concurrently experiencing.

My first BMW. 1991 M5. If I could set my Facebook relationship status with my car it would say "it's complicated." by Vikingdiapersin BMW

I love the E34 body, one of BMW's best. As another M5 owner, I hear you on that relationship status.

Was the car running any differently? Defective VANOS solenoids typically manifest as rough idling, poor acceleration, and misfires.

If it went away by itself, it's likely that the problem was minor/temporary and possibly misdiagnosed by the dealer.

Had about 98K when I took the picture. The wheels look much better in the photo than in real life, honestly; a respray is on my to-do list.

Here is an imgur album with some more photos.

Oh yeah, the CBU is there. I've resigned myself to seeing the SES light on until I get her chipped.

Rickenbacker Causeway between Miami and Key Biscayne.

still learning about different models, can anyone tell me what this one is? by Corriganin BMW

[–]whoishomer 0 points1 point ago

I believe the 525i models only got the wide grille in '95. I used to have a '94 with the narrow grille and the new mirrors.

I'm curious as to what year and which models started using the projector headlamps (at least in the US). The very early ones at least have four non-projector lamps.

P.S. Elsa is a beauty!

Just got my first BMW! So stoked! by CaptainK17in BMW

The E34 is an excellent all-around machine. I've had the pleasure of owning a '94 525i 5-speed. Enjoy, these are amazing cars!
