As a rider who does it, I can tell you that not is it legal, it's actually safer.

It's a variation of yield management. Airlines, save Southwest, swear by it.

It's also quite likely while they all routinely go bankrupt once a decade or so.

I know this will be surprising, but going to war isn't decided by servicemen participating in a big, secret ballot.

Just FYI.

Thank you for your service! Can you spread word of the exchange, especially if you know anyone still deployed? I imagine they need it most.

I think this is terrific.

Remember the men & women in service don't have the same choices you & I do. They don't pick their mission. They don't pick their job.

They follow their orders & hope in doing so, that they're doing some good. Should that not be the case, I'm sure it pains them the most.

For most Redditors, if we don't like our job or have a shitty boss, we can quit. They can't.

Think your work environment sucks? At least nobody is shooting at you.

Had a rough day? You get to go home to your family for the night. They go back to a bunker in the middle of the desert.

Missed your kid's birthday because you were traveling? They miss birthdays as well as Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years and the rest.

They make a big sacrifice, and I'm glad Reddit can put politics aside to give a simple token of thanks.

As a former Ticketmaster employee, I can tell you this is a good description of ticket fees: "Behind String Cheese Incident's Stunt, an Entrenched World of Ticket Fees" by wdr1in Economics

No, it's often split as the other fees are. Although I hear they're working to eliminate it over the next few years. (The split is written into contracts, so existing ones have to first expire.)

Meh. The cuts are hardly deep enough to matter. It's just lip service to win an election.

The expansive role of government and the unwillingness to do the hard things to bring government spending back in line.

They are much more inclined to support policies that help these groups than they are to go to bat for the actual voters.

Cop takes $22,000 from innocent man because man can't "prove" that it isn't drug money by okpokin Libertarian

[–]wdr1 5 points6 points ago

Annoying as fuck. Keep in mind that this is how the IRS works too. If they feel you have too much money or possessions that couldn't be achieved on your declared income, they can declare it was purchased with drug money and confiscate it.

What's the most politically progressive brokerage firm to use? by evilkneein personalfinance

Goldman Sachs was a big contributor to Obama.

On the whole, I think it's a bad idea. Wall Street simply greases the hands of whoever has the power or who they think is likely to get it.

Home prices to bottom in these 19 markets in 2012....Significant price increases in Phoenix, Miami and Tampa by TheGhostOfNoLibsin personalfinance

The market around here never had a crash.

Never is a bit strong. Perhaps it wasn't as deep or as long-lasting as the other parts of the country, but it definitely happened.

E.g., median house price in Palo Alto went from $1.27M to $1M. $/sqft went from a peak of $907/sqft to a low of $614, etc.
