TROPHY CASE

Crazy guy pulls night shift and talks to himself all night via AMA to stay awake. Some really shocking stuff here. by ZarqonsBeardin bestof

XKCD pioneered it, doing a whole mac/windows discussion on his own.

Ideally, getting the grade and learning the material are highly correlated, but I'll grant that that's not always the case, so yes then it can feel as a waste of time.

STOP. GENERALIZING. TRUTHS. ABOUT. THE. BIG. SUBREDDITS.

I personally think reddit is in better shape than ever, as there are now enough people to make a reddit purely about my favorite cities, obscure hobbies, etc... (It used to be just self, programming and politics in the ole days)

I am getting really sick of these everybody is doing it wrong, except for me/us of course posts. Is r/theoryofreddit so bad, to name one obvious example?

So mum knitted me the Mario vest, pretty sure she nailed it. (FIXED) Thanks _M4TTH3W_ by animateseverythingin gaming

I creted /r/mystory exactly for that but it's been mostly crickets so far.

I don't think it will ever take off tbh, people will always prefer sharing on a large subreddit like iama because, well, it's the most attention for their story.

Nope, sorry - he didn't do an AMA or anything I said, just mentioned it casually in the comments, must have been like a year or 2 ago.

That must be a strange and in some way great feeling :)

A while ago we had the guy that created the 'DISREGARD THAT I SUCK COCKS HAHAHAHAHA' line from bash.org, now that's achieving internet immortality!

One of the admins once said that they will push everything on your smaller subreddits with very infrequent posts automatically to the frontpage, similarly to what comes from r/blog.

But now that you mention it, this hasn't been true for me at all lately. Time to tell them to tweak the algoritm!

I know I'll forget about this in about 4 minutes and be totally thrown off guard if you take me up on it but: I live in Ghent, feel free to hit me up a couple of days before you arrive (reminding me of this post :)) if you want to hang out with, and be shown a bit of the city by, a local. Always nice to meet fellow redditors.

Also, congrats!

Protip: if you still have the chance, try to move your honeymoon to september, highly greater chance of catching some decent weather (which goes for all of Europe I think, not just Belgium).

As a developer: thanks for taking the time to report things like these to them rather than just staying frustrated with your problem.

Kudos to TPB for acting and replying so quickly.

Seems still pretty young though? But we will definitely post on there, thanks for the tip.

Now you just scan one 'menu' of the ribbon? What else is a ribbon part than just a menu that rolls out horizontally, and with some icons that make it faster to catch once you are used to it than just pure text?

You do know you can make any item into an always accessible shortcut on top there right?

Hi, that's a pretty interesting idea actually. Not sure if we would want to start out with consultants rather than just regular employees from the start though (even if they work essentially in the same way)...

Actually I think ribbon is the best UI invention of the last decade or so.

Have you tried working with, say Excel 2007 for a couple of months and then going back to toolbars-galore Excel 2003? Ribbon solves all the right problems, in the right way.

I also don't like how they are introducing more and more OSX-like 'ease of use' features in Windows. Let's make the distinction between a shortcut and a running program go away, yay! Let's fuck up window management! Etc etc..

I most be pretty much the only 'windows fanboy' online but fuck it, I'll keep fighting my own little fight. (I used both OSX and Linux extensively too by the way, Windows wins on a number of fronts for me)
