Reddit, I have the grossest cat-- her face starts leaking when she purrs. by bendemolinain cats

Haha, my cat does this when we feed her treats. She'd drip saliva all over us and the couch.

My hubby and I are both allergic to cats but got over it in a month's time. The first two weeks were bad (eyes constantly red and itchy, sneezing), but it gets better eventually - I can now rub my face in my cat's fur and nothing happens. I'm the more allergic one (I get asthmatic around some cats), and after some research, we decided to get a small, spayed female cat with light colors since cats with these traits may produce the least amount of felD1 protein. When I get sneezy nowadays, I clean the house and rub my cat down with allerPetC. Furminators work pretty well too, since they take out loose hair that can float around and spread allergens. Keep them out of your bedroom if possible. It IS possible to own a cat! You definitely need the right kitty. I'm still slightly allergic to my friend's hairless cat, but much less so compared to most other types. Hairless cats are also easier to clean up after (no constant vacuuming), but I love my furball! Also, try volunteering at your local cat shelter - regular exposure to them is like getting allergy shots! You might also find a cat there you're less allergic to.

Thanks fide! Her kittens seemed awfully small. It's questionable if they were really 2 months old. We'll get her looked at on Wed. She's eating/drinking fine though.

Do any of you guys meditate? by WolfnArmourin AskReddit

I struggle with intermittent depression. I find meditation a great mood regulator. It makes me feel more balanced. I only meditate when I feel bad enough to do something about it. It usually helps. It's great for when I'm stressed too, gives me stamina and focus. I believe it's good for my immune system and my mental health. Makes my problems more manageable. What I do is sit in a semi dark room, on a balance ball or on the carpet and close my eyes, banish all thoughts to really soft tantra music. I do this until I feel energized and ready to take on the world again. Good luck, hope this helps!

Would anyone else rather give up modern conveniences to live a rustic, simple life where your 'job' is to farm your own food and build your own shelter? by wannabe_a_farmerin AskReddit

Wow thanks for all the replies guys, this was my first post! Kudos to those who live on a farm! I really just think backbreaking work would feel more concrete and rewarding than say - pushing numbers on Excel all day or working some bureaucratic job. I think I will go volunteer on a farm for a few weeks next time I get a break. All that hard work might make me appreciate my current lifestyle. I'm a grad student in the physical sciences, perhaps I should consider switching to agriculture.
