Also the 7850 is pci-e 3.0, which was a plus for me because i plan to move to an ivy bridge board in the upcoming months (most likely an ASRock Z77 with an i7-3770k or i5-3570k) It's really more about what you specifically want to do with your rig and how much that $30-40 price bump hits your pocketbook.

Very true, the MSI is only 900mhz stock, but I still think I can get her up to 1050-1100. I've had such great luck with MSI cards in the past I was willing to let the 75mhz slide :)

What do you mean? There are three models still available at newegg right now. I ordered the MSI Twin Frozr 3 days ago. I think the price will drop a little bit in the next few weeks now that the 680 is out.

I really don't see myself spending more than $250 for a video card, unless it's an extra 10-15 bucks for an MSI Twin Frozr vs. an XFX. I'd like to get an i5-2500k and a good motherboard to support the upgrades plus what I currently have. I guess around $400 for those. Then another $175-200 on the power supply/new case. Throw in another $40 for 8GB of memory and I'm eventually going to spend almost $900.

If I go with say the HD 7850, would I even need to upgrade my power supply? If not I would probably save up and buy everything else after the video card all at once and rebuild then.
