I think you're right. But I just wanted to say, if you watch the movie again, watch it from the perspective of Hector, not Paris. I thought Eric Bana portrayed him perfectly and made me sympathize more with him than Achilles. He made the movie for me, tragic though it may be.

Yeah, I think it ends up working surprisingly well, except the line "Before you were the master and I was the learner, but now I'm the master" because Anakin was already Vader at that point and his master was the Emperor. But that's a minor quibble. I guess my main problem is that Obi-wan has aged so much more than 20 years in that time. Ewan seems to be playing late-30s Obi-wan, but Alec looks like he's playing late 70s Obi-wan. It doesn't really work from a temporal POV since Luke & Leia are only 19 or so. Thus, the geriatric lightsaber duel is kind of sad and doesn't make total sense, except for Obi-wan's self-sacrifice.

Yeah, but I'll take Ewan's "You were the Chosen One!!!" over Sir Alec's wooden "only a master of evil, Darth," any day of the week. Obviously, Alec didn't know all the background -- or care -- at that point. But the fight in Ep IV is so bad it's hard to watch. And their lightsabers sometimes disappear when they're at odd angles! Out of all the tweaks Lucas has made, how come he hasn't fixed that shit? (Admittedly, I haven't seen the new Blu-Rays yet)

It was indeed an awesome battle, but there's so much build up to it that it can't really measure up to expectations or make up for the parts where it bogs down before it begins.

Actually, Sam's monologue is in the book -- but in a different part of it. I think it's right before they enter Shelob's lair in the book. In the book they enter the tunnel together because there's none of that sending-Sam-home business.

I agree about the ending (I really wanted to see the scouring of the Shire) but I think -- after many, many views -- that the Two Towers is the weakest. It drags a lot in the middle (especially with the Ents) and there are a ton of invented/not-in-the-book scenes. Fellowship had the best pacing and ROTK had a huge payoff. In the books Shelob occurs in the 2nd "book" but she's moved to the 3rd one for the movies. It leaves TTT with nothing but the battle of Helm's Deep.

Best thing I can say about TTT is that the opening scene with Gandalf vs. the Balrog gave me a cinematic boner from here to the moon. Epic! But the rest of the movie couldn't sustain that level of sheer awesomeness.

Then you grow up even more and realize that ANH isn't that great. The lightsaber fight sucks (Vader vs. Obi-wan is embarrassing after Ep 3's fight), the music is weaker because it lacks Vader's theme, the acting is often hokey -- even by Star Wars standards (Luke is annoying), and the attack on the death star drags on for too long.

No, this is from a well-known incident in Canada where it's blatantly obvious that the "anarchists" are police agent provocateurs. Watch the video and do your own research and you'll find it hard to deny the reality of the situation.

I paid around $85 (including fees) for Maiden tickets in early July. Pretty awesome seats from what I can tell. Beware of inflated bullshit seats.
