For me, part of being an atheist is always remembering humanity. We are all human. I forget that more often that I'd like. Being human means making mistakes, lots of them. Some of those mistakes are ones we make every day. I consider people who still believe in a god to be mistaken. And their mistake usually doesn't affect me. Most people are religious or spiritual in some way. You can't go through life only wanting to be around people who are atheist, you'll lose too many great opportunities at friendship. Some people just want to believe. My mom believed, at least she really tried hard to, she went to church and prayed and such. I let her, I didn't refuse to be around her or talk down to her. I let her believe whatever she wanted to believe, and if she had questions, she would ask. I don't know if she truly believed or was just hoping, but it helped none the less. I have also lived with people who did not have TV because it was too secular and go to a HUGE church. The kids went on to be missionaries. I know the other end of the spectrum well. I even knew someone who spoke in tongues and tried to cast my demons out. Shit was absurd. Those are the people you stay away from and don't let in your clubs. A blogger who is trying to communicate open-mindedness and understanding to his congregation regarding atheism is a gift from god.
