It's a tiny, completely inconsequential thing, but I'd like to see some regens have preferred squad numbers. Better yet, have it so that some players decide on their preferred number after a while - so if you keep their squad number the same for years, it might eventually show as their favourite number.

It doesn't have to have any effect on morale or anything, it'd just be a nice little touch.

Well if he gets on the pitch, I hope he plays better than he did at Southend a couple of months ago, where he was at fault for three of the four goals he conceded. If I recall, two of them basically went straight through him.

Obviously, that's just one game and it wouldn't be fair to judge his ability on just that evidence. But man, he was really bad that day.

My neighbour's little black cat is similar. If I leave my window open, she'll climb up on to the roof to jump in and sleep on my bed. I've never once fed her, but she keeps coming back, seemingly just for somewhere to sleep in peace. Seeing as she lives in a house with three older cats, two young children and a dog, I can't begrudge her that.

Well, that's what a Portuguese guy told me in a thread in r/soccer a few months ago. There's news pages around mentioning an incident outside a nightclub but no mention of a gun, so maybe it was bollocks.

I dunno. He got frozen out at Valencia for arguing with the manager and I believe he was once caught outside a nightclub waving a gun in the air. Doesn't portray him as the most stable of individuals, even if that was a few years ago now.

He was great the first time we had him, but I don't remember him doing much when he came back.

Although he did score this goal a couple of months ago. Not bad.

I've always liked Rob Huth so I reckon he'd be a good signing, as would Olsson. Wouldn't mind Distin leaving, I've never trusted him (and that's from long before the Liverpool game). He's 34 now anyway, definitely past the point of needing a replacement lined up.

Plus, you never know when Heitinga might just up sticks and move to some big European club, god knows he's never gone to any great lengths to distance himself from the rumours.

I don't even have the words to properly express my distaste for that episode. I think it's time I gave up on Zombie Simpsons.

EDIT: Y'know what, let's expand a bit on that. I think my hatred of that episode is probably compounded by the fact that I just read an ebook about the fall of The Simpsons called Zombie Simpsons: How the Best Show Ever Became the Broadcasting Undead by the guy from the Dead Homer Society blog. It's an intelligent and well put together essay about what happened around the time that there was a marked decline in the quality of the show, and it's dirt cheap on Amazon (£1.92 here in the UK, which I guess is like 3 bucks in America). It chronicles the change from a vibrant, anti-authority show to middle-of-the-road dreck. I really recommend it.

Reading that made me realise just how good The Simpsons was, and having that fresh in my mind really brought home how terrible that newest episode was. I honestly don't think I'll bother with any more New Simpsons, it's just not worth it any more. I'll always love those first few seasons, but I can't think of any reason to watch something that I enjoy as little as New Simpsons.

It's more than rumours, they're definitely making a new online version. The thing I don't understand about it, though, is that it's only for the Korean market.

Obviously there's huge amounts of money to be made over there, but it seems an odd place to start with a new project, unless they're worried that it'd be too soon after FM Live to launch it in Western markets. FML was badly mismanaged - it was fundamentally a good game (albeit one that didn't make a lot of sense as an MMO) until they absolutely butchered it within a few months of it's full release.

I'd love them to put more effort into the online mode of the core game and add things like dedicated server support, but there's probably not a lot they can do to it without changing the essential FM experience.

His defending isn't that bad for a 15 year old (for example his Positioning is miles better than Off The Ball), but yeah, retraining him would be a good move.

He'll make a good defensive winger.

Sounds like we've been scouting Nick Powell from Crewe. I've seen him a couple of times this season and he's got the look of a player who'll make it, so I'd like to see that happen. 15 goals from right wing isn't bad for an 18 year old, even if it is League Two.

I signed him on amateur terms for Thisted FC in the Danish third tier. He absolutely destroyed the league and led us to promotion. Fearing that I'd lose him to a bigger club, I gave him one of the five or so semi professional contracts that I could afford to support, and he promptly got injured and missed an entire season.

I'll never forgive him.

He seemed to do pretty well. He's obviously not the kind of guy to make defence-splitting passes or surging runs, but he's solid and reliable. For £500k, that's about all you could ask for.

The main thing he seems to add is simply his presence. That works for us because it means no Phil Neville fumbling his way around midfield, but I'm not sure how useful it'd be in an international tournament.
