A question for non-U.S. redditors, does anyone feel that religion plays a significant role in government policy or your country's electoral process? Please state the name of the country with which you refer. by theeddie23in AskReddit

My intent was not to be aggressive, but only that the ruling party of Germany labels itself as Christian Democratic and yet you "wouldn't say that the government is influenced by religion at all." And you then deride the U.S. for the same crap as if we are in different boats. Sorry if I offended you, and I realize you were not necessarily defending your country but you were pointing out the ridiculous nature of mine without full disclosure to the similar nature of yours.

I love Mo, I hate to say anything bad about the greatest relief pitcher of all time, but this pisses me off? He "trusts the Lord" for his future recovery with no mention of the doctors and science which will even make it possible. by theeddie23in baseball

[–]theeddie23[S] -3 points-2 points ago

If he trusts the lord he should have no operations and see how that works out. I respect Mo's beliefs but give some credit where credit is due. If this were 20 years ago, he would be done, it is only the advances in medical science which give him even a chance to return. Thank the Lord, but thank the dedicated human being who will make it happen as well.

The Merkel party is the Christian Democratic Union, how much more open can you get? Their values are as far from christian values as socialists are, but they still claim the title. U.S. parties also delude themselves, but the clusterfuck you have going on in Germany is a mirror of our Republican party. You can say more if you want but I think you have nothing more to say.

Eastern Asia was raped, for lack of a better word, by Christian missionaries, western governments, and businesses. Their policies led to over-population in areas of mostly limited agricultural resources, and produced a population which will work for pennies producing cheap, mostly, non-essential goods sold in the west. It is a sad history which has led many into extreme Islamic beliefs which benefit them no more than personal suicide.

Do not know if this guy has been submitted before but I thought he should be heard. I admit that initially I was a bit annoyed by him but I also kept clicking his videos to hear his thoughts. by theeddie23in atheism

Not in any way familiar with this, but agree with your annoyance and irritation if his well thought out diatribes turned to hate mongering, that would certainly be unacceptable. i admittedly do not know enough of his video progression to see any pattern of hate but as I work through them I will keep it in mind.

It is hard to separate the intent from the humor with him, the more I see his posts , the more I see your point, but I think he is pretty equal in his attacks. He pulls no punches with any of the monotheistic religions. it may be a case of his islamic comments being singled out, because as I see it, he just as vocal and vile about christianity and judaism as he is islam. Also, I think you and I see eye to eye very clearly, in the fact you are intelligent enough to understand my point as i am intelligent enough to understand yours. No closer could we be.

The video does not endorse either of these parties, perhaps there is a something more subtle in it which I am not seeing as I am a U.S. citizen but it sounds to me as if he is advocating voting for a party which is not in the ruling elite. It sounds like what we would call libertarianism, which essentially, now means a fiscal conservative, social libertarian. It is perhaps something different in the U.K., maybe "fiscal conservative, social fascism". Just trying to understand the dichotomy here, not debating your point.

I have watched some more of his vids and can sort of see your point but I think he rails against sharia practices more than just islam in general. I do not disagree with his view that it is barbaric and denies woman's rights. But while I do not necessarily agree with France abolishing the wearing of sharia clothing, i do agree that women in any country should have the right to dress as they wish and not be told how to dress, act, or be educated by archaic religion and their zealots.

Can you give me an example of this, I have seen one anti-islam vid but it did not seem anything more than a rail against an organization in the U.S. which is very insular and in some cases extremist. By my, admittedly limited viewings of his vids, I would say he is pretty liberal in his criticisms of all organized religion. It is very possible I am wrong about this, because, as I have said i have not watched all of his videos. If he does go "right-wing-fascist" on islam, that is not something i would support.

I totally agree, i have just discovered him, and as I stated, at first i thought he was a crank, but i could not help myself from clicking on more of his vids. A lot of his thoughts are very close to my own, and when he is on, he is dead on. There are several vids which are defiantly out there but you have to give the guy credit, he is speaking about a wide range of ideas in brief but very thoughtful ways

That was my thought, he mostly does a good job of putting many of my own thoughts in digestible arguments but with a fine balance of humor which make him more a satirist and not another whiny wannabe atheist spokesman.

Publicity stunt for Titanic 3-D, dumb sheep. Upvote galore for rich dick who timed his meaningless trip to coincide with the re-release of his shit love story, now with Kate's tits slapping you in the face from the prow of the ship. What a bunch of mindless cattle you are to think this anything more than dollars. 12,000 up-votes to further this farce, it makes me physically ill.

Are people defined by their negative traits or positive traits? by Homeschooled316in Christianity

I do not know where you got that impression from Reddit, while there are racial, ethnic, gender jokes here they are seen for what they are, from my experience seen as mocking humor and not as a systemic bigoted society. The general tone of Reddit has always seemed to me as celebrating all genuinely good works done by anyone regardless of race, culture or gender. As such, any humor between these cases is in the spirit of fun and not malice, except in the case of the poles, because everyone loves a great pollack joke. ----- I am fucking kidding, my great-grandmother's jailer was from Poland. ---Again joking, I love Poland.

Exactly, how did lustful Matthew Crawley go from paraplegic to walking in less than a year while poor pure William who shielded Sir Matthew from same blast have some strange lung injury which is incurable and forces the virgin Daisy into an ethical dilemma? It is just not right. --- Sorry, I could not resist, a bit drunker now and your post reminded me of my guilty pleasure.
