I may just be baked, but if you could somehow file down the edges of the glass around the stem area, you could possible JB weld another piece of glass to it that was flat as well. I've drilled holes in glass before, so I think it might be possible. Otherwise, get a rubber hose or some shit and attach it to that broken part.

These are only a few ideas.

Quite awesome, although I would construct an elaborate backpack or something to carry him. Then I would hike the Appalachian.

I, for one, would not want to be carried in such a manner, especially while hiking. It seems like it would be uncomfortable.
