I am not. What properties of the emulator could I change that might affect this?

I actually linked to that in the OP. The issue is if I have more than ~415 entries, it does not work properly in the emulator.

I actually went through that tutorial before posting. This step seemed like a red flag though. Would there be an issue doing this 8,000 times?

You're right, I do now seem to recall that familiar situation we all go through and realize how patently absurd my query was. Quite.

The language of the OP implied the humor of the statement is derived from the absurdity of the facts. It's relevant because it has to be factual if you're trying to be funny OR make a point about something, otherwise, you're just dinosaur cream. Sausage?

It started with her masturbating me.

How did that start?

I'm going to preface this by saying I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I'm just trying unconfuse myself :)

I'm saying that neither are jokes because they aren't based on a true assumption. Prayer from an outside perspective has nothing to do with traveling faster than the speed of light. Prayer is not the idea that you are talking to something you can't interact with. How does that even make sense? That goes against the definition of prayer.

How people ridicule their way of life might even give the more ignorant a wake-up call...

I agree with you, but OP isn't ridiculing anyone's way of life. No one will read and identify that with their own belief system.

A lot of people can't or don't want to make fun of religion in their daily lives for various reasons.

OP is not making fun of a religion. OP is making fun of a straw man punching bag that doesn't exist.

I see these things mainly as an outlet for many.

Me too. r/atheism is a great place for realizing you are not alone, and a great outlet to vent or speak your mind. But basing our jokes/opinions on things that aren't true just makes us ignorant and has no power in swaying the minds of religious folk.

Its fun to point out just how ridiculous the premise and it's consequences are, which was the purpose of the post.

If the premise is bunk, what consequences could there be?

skim over a few posts and decide he's right after all he wouldn't recognize logic

What I’m saying is there is no logic to hit people in the face with in what OP said.

Once you take out the straw man caricatures, it's not funny, and it hardly makes any sort of point.

prayer: the idea that you possess telepathic ability which can move faster than light and defy all other physical laws to reach an alien being who created a universe where he can never actually enter and interact with without evidence of itself, all for the assertion that you and your concerns are the most important thing in the universe. important enough to devote a finite amount of its infinite power to address.

What do you think of holidays now? by the_win exjw

Its weird how Santa can be used as a metaphor for god, in both proving and disproving his existance.

To qoute my news feed on facebook this morning:

From a blog I read: In our home, the tale of Santa is not a lie. It is magic & make-believe & hope, all the things we wish to instill in our child. Wide-eyes at twinkling lights & soft stockings hung on the mantle & cookies on a plate. Santa is purity of heart, goodness prevailing. The belief in Santa is the same as the innocence that Superman can fly, that mermaids swim in the ocean, & that... Momma’s kiss takes away a boo-boo. It is not deception, but child-like faith. It is not a story of greed & selfishness, but rather a man symbolic of grace & mercy. In our home, Santa does not give gifts for being “good.” Santa is not a manipulation. Santa is grace. Pure grace in the form of gifts under the tree as an act of love & sacrifice. Gifts that we may not deserve, may not earn, may struggle with accepting, but gifts are there as a promise every Christmas morning. Steadfast & loyal, Santa brings a grace that surpasses understanding & with it, love to fill hearts & souls & bring us closer. It sounds similar to another story of Christmas, no? & when it comes time that our children question a man squeezing down a chimney & a red-nosed reindeer, we will tell them that Santa is grace & that as long as they believe in that, gifts will be bestowed. Just like Someone Else.

How people ridicule their way of life

My point is that it isn't anyone's way of life. Consider:

Atheism: the belief that Darwin created humanity. Man those atheists are dumb.

I think the point is that the calender is based on the orbital cycle, but our perception of the months is based their weather. And weather is not based strictly on the orbital cycle. I'm confusing myself. A different question: Could there be a consequence to always adding an extra day to the same season?

Whenever I see someone praying for a sick person (OC) by dingosin atheism

[–]the_w 1 point2 points ago

Thanks for the reply. I know that we know that prayer is bullshit. But what is the point of making fun of religion, if it is based on a false premise? We can't even pat ourselves on the back if we make things up to make fun of.

It's just stuff like this that will only strengthen belief in prayer when a religious person reads these kinds of statements from atheists. If you grossly missinterpret where they are coming from, you will just seem ignorant. You will only close the blinds tighter.

What's the best suit/suit deal I can get for $100? by [deleted]in frugalmalefashion

[–]the_w 1 point2 points ago

Depatment store is probably best if you don't get lucky at a thrift store. About 8 years ago I got a wool suit from JC Penney's - $200 on sale for $100. JCP has really great deals on clearance sometimes.

To add another critique, it's mostly sales and coupons, usually for online stores. It's not a deal if you don't know how it fits.

Part of it could be the shock of seeing someone you know so well dressed very differently. People are usually weird if you attempt to dress better after always dressing like you did when you where 13. It seemed to take people I knew few times seeing me, at least.
