Grant Morrison's writing is pretty much hit or miss for me as well, but I think the author (of the article) missed a lot of New X-Men's context, did he actually expect that all mutants from X-Men universe have cool looks and powers?

Batman's death didn't make a lot of impact for me compared to Knightfall and I thought the 'journey' through different time periods on his way to ressurection is just plain gimmicky.

However I do love his work on WE3. And his work on All-Star Superman is just amazing, that it makes me forget all the other pretty meh stuff he wrote. Frank Quitely is one of the best pencillers alive.
