Hitchens was very outspoken about the potential for violence in all religions and explains this in great lengths in God is Not Great... Suffice it to say that I have also heard both Dawkins and Hitchens claim that christianity is just as violent. For some reason these statements are not parroted as much but they still exist.

Hmm I kid you not, I know of several people who got jobs deving on rails projects without actually knowing rails. Most of them had really strong front end dev skills though.

Right so they are not zombies in the sense that they are hungry for brains, but you have a person who once infected is going to be cognitively impaired and mobile, with at least some capacity for destruction. Assuming this infection can be spread by saliva or blood, it is close enough, but I doubt its ability to travel as seen in movies depicting a zombie outbreak.

Fair point, I should have said frameworks. With that switch in place, I stand by my original comment. By forgetting the concepts from other frameworks I did not mean MVC, yes there are tons of those. I was specifically referring to "magic" in Rails, if you spend your entire time learning trying to sort this out, you will drive yourself mad, and are not that likely to sort it out immediately.

I'm just now getting familiar with Rails and my best advice is to completely forget any concepts you know from other languages and just accept that while you are in rails, the rails way is the only one that matters. Also bug your coworkers frequently (ask them how / why things work) that should speed up your learning curve.
