November 3rd 1990, Sega's MegaModem allowed players to play online via dial-up. Only 17 games were ever made to use the service.

Unfortunately, due to poor coding, there are more and longer load times in the Saturn version. However, in most cases, slowdowns were noticed after the player has occupied more than three save slots, so these issues can be avoided by careful walk through and save progress planning. Also, rather than take advantage of the Saturn's increased resolution, the graphics are stretched to fill the screen, which causes some sprites to be distorted. The overall quality is said to be lower than the PlayStation version due to it being a simple port handled by another team, and not being recoded to take advantage of the Saturn's technically superior 2D capabilities. Igarashi has expressed his disdain for the Sega Saturn version.

Well, you know, it's almost like Sega's success moves in waves or even 3-4 year rotations. late eighties wasn't too great, early nineties, they did awesome. Mid nineties wasn't so hot, late nineties "hey, we've got a new system, guys!", and 3 years later, they completely dropped all hardware. You could almost say the same thing about their software as a third party developer, too.
I accidentally a whole word? Damnit. Fixed now. Little late, though
Me too. After Shining Force III is done, my next LP will be the Saturn Panzer series.

I disagree. While there never was any shortage of sequels, I think it's safe to say that on the Genesis
The Sonic games got progressively better
Shinobi games got progressively better
Shining games got progressively better
Golden Axe, Phantasy Star, and Streets of Rage all got progressively better.
Vectorman 2 was better than Vectorman 1.
Power Stone was fantastic. So much fun. I actually like Power Stone more than Power Stone 2 though. Power Stone 2 had too many gimmicks in the stages, and removed the combo feature entirely. In the first game, there was a punch button and a kick button and if you watched closely, there was a different pattern for every combination of button presses. In 2, there was only 1 attack button. The extra characters were nice, though.

I don't think so, unless I bumped my head and forgot...
Nah, I just took an hour this morning and wrote it.

Ah it's been a long time since I've heard ol' Stolarium's name. I got your message on Youtube :D Thanks! I'll reply when I can sign in to youtube at home.

haha, thanks again! I'm just a regular guy who does stuff. That's all. Actually I might be a bit obsessive, looking back on my larger projects, but whatever. I like the things I do. I do the things I like. And I like making people smile.
Did I say the Saturn had HD or something? I'm confused by this comment...

lol yes playing through all 3 1/2 games is going to be a lot of videos, but I'm in it for the long haul. I'm the kind of person who works well when we have a clear project and goals, even if they're long. For example, I'm the first person in the world to create the entire set of first generation Pokemon with 5mm beads in full color. Took EIGHT months. Link here If you like those, check out the rest of my gallery, too!
And the translation is almost entirely complete, now. Almost all Japanese text and placeholders have been removed from items, menus, NPC dialogue and story. There's still some work to be done on the "bookcase". A thing introduced in scenario two that lets you review important characters. The kind of thing that would come in a separate mini-book with a limited edition purchase in today's game market.

Absolutely. That sounds like one of the easiest solutions. Use Zoom and Ctrl+G to do the tougher areas and you'll be fine. I suggested GIMP because there's a tool that lets you choose all pixels of a selected color at once and the palette is easier to navigate.
My part is relatively small compared to a guy going by Legalize_freedom. I report to him and as far as I know, he's doing the hard work. I really do appreciate your compliments, though. If even 1 person gets to relive the game because of the work we do, I'm pleased. Check out my Youtube channel where I'm playing through the entire game series! Even TotalBiscuit didn't get through the first part!
MS Paint is simple enough, otherwise try GIMP (it's free, here)
Thanks! I hope you enjoy at least some of it!! haha
Thanks and thanks! This is certainly a first! Although my CoD Black Ops debacle was curiously well received, too. Here's a link to it
It actually went to the front page, I guess back then (a whole year ago) you didn't need as many upvotes to hit front page. I made a rage comic in there, too, lol

Awesome, thanks! In full disclosure, I do have the monetized channel thing going on, but none of my Shining Force III videos have it enabled. I think at this point my only monetized videos are my proposal and some cat videos. But for some reason when I see my view count go up, it makes me happy. Kinda attention whore-ish, now that I think about it. Gee that's sad.
I don't want to sell you death sticks, I want to go home and rethink my life.

They all are, really. Even Atari had some extremely creative things going for it years and years ago, and still today. I guess it's not really who created it that matters, it's who implements it best. I used to be a huge Sega fan-boy, and while I know more about Sega than other companies, I'm not into the whole bashing thing. If Playstation, 360, or PC or Wii, or whatever is your thing, awesome. Go for it. Whatever brings me the most creative memorable experience for my gaming dollar.

I recently picked up Christmas NiGHTS, too. Did you know that Christmas NiGHTS was the first game ever in which you could play as Sonic in a 3D setting?
Here's some cool stuff:

You know, I think I've seen a "how-to" on taking apart the cable assemblage and makeshifting the 3D pad into a USB compatible PC controller, but I only have the one pad and don't want to tear it apart. I like the buttons on the Saturn's controllers, all six laid out in front like that. I played Megaman X4 on the Saturn a TON, and when I got the X collection on PS2, I couldn't play it for shit because there weren't enough face buttons on the controller.
