Good luck with the Walking Dead 1. I saw one at the last Comic Con I attended for 500$. Not well looked after either. Could have easily walked off with it.

That's exactly how I started too. My uncle was a big collector and I would read them when I went over to his house. I stopped for a long time but for some reason when Blackest Night started, I felt I should get back into it.

Yeah, it's really nothing special. I like to go for the cheap comics, but almost every stand I went to only had golden and bronze age. I was able to fill in some gaps in my amazing spiderman, and picked up full sets of house of m and civil war.

I like where The Avenging Spiderman is going. Teaming up with a different character in almost every issue. I'm also enjoying Batman and Robin. You should give that a try.

At first I was gonna say, that doesn't sound like a collector but more like an avid reader. A collector is one who reads something, doesn't like it , but keeps it for the sake of having. The second half is true though.

You can start at the new one that came out yesterday. 49.1. the new arc "dead" starts with 50 and that comes out February 8th. But Deadpool is amazing, you can pretty much start anywhere.
