I'm pretty excited that he's making movies again.

Apparently they're made by American Licorice Company. I feel like they're most popular on the west coast of the U.S. too. Elsewhere you're more likely to see Twizzlers. This may have changed a bit since I was a kid, though.

It would actually be pretty smart for them to do something like this at some point in the next few months. They need to get at least some of the fans behind them.

Ridley Scott announces Blade Runner sequel (Wired UK) by liltbrockiein movies

Interesting. While my first instinct is to say there shouldn't even be a sequel, I guess if Ridley Scott thinks he has a good idea for one, he should get to make it.

Although I don't really care, I'm not sure Bradbury himself would approve-

Nic Cage on the set of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance by mi-16evilin movies

[–]spikey666 18 points19 points ago

Yup-

I would paint my face with black and white make up to look like a Afro-Caribbean icon called Baron Samedi, or an Afro-New Orleans icon who is also called Baron Saturday. He is a spirit of death but he loves children; he's very lustful, so he's a conflict in forces. And I would put black contact lenses in my eyes so that you could see no white and no pupil, so I would look more like a skull or a white shark on attack.

On my costume, my leather jacket, I would sew in ancient, thousands-of-years-old Egyptian relics, and gather bits of tourmaline and onyx and would stuff them in my pockets to gather these energies together and shock my imagination into believing that I was augmented in some way by them, or in contact with ancient ghosts. I would walk on the set looking like this, loaded with all these magical trinkets, and I wouldn't say a word to my co-stars or crew or directors. I saw the fear in their eyes, and it was like oxygen to a forest fire. I believed I was the Ghost Rider.

Sanctuary Canceled - Any SciFi left for SyFy? by amoskin scifi

[–]spikey666 3 points4 points ago

Current original shows on Syfy-

Alphas- Sorta sci-fi. First season was pretty good. Although they put the guy from Eureka in charge of the second season, so your mileage may vary.

Being Human- "Supernatural Drama". Remake.

Eureka- Sci-fi, I guess. Currently running its final season.

Haven- "Supernatural Drama". Supposedly based off of a Stephan King book. Although I never saw any evidence of that in the episodes I watched.

Warehouse 13- Defiantly some sci-fi appeal in there. Sci-fi lite, anyways. More enjoyable than initially gave it credit for. Probably last a couple more years.

Also Defiance is listed as being in production.

Conversely, apparently they run about a dozen reality shows. And Wrestling.

Former Cheers showrunner's take on Dan Harmon's firing by Rendlein community

[–]spikey666 0 points1 point ago

Well, he created 'Rick and Morty' with Justin Roiland. While I'm not entirely sure what role he was supposed to have in the show beyond that, one assumes that he does now have more time than originally expected to devote to it.

Former Cheers showrunner's take on Dan Harmon's firing by Rendlein community

[–]spikey666 2 points3 points ago

He has a reputation for being somewhat hard to work with. In this case, he had a slight dustup with Dan Harmon that some people think may have been a contributing factor in Harmon's contract not getting renewed.

[–]spikey666 9 points10 points ago

It's an industry term for the person in charge of the day-to-day production and creative direction of a TV series. The boss of the show. Often credited as the Executive Producer. A showrunner is often involved in the making of pretty much every episode, even when they aren't credited as the writer or the director. Some are more involved than others.

Maybe. They really do need someone that can provide some sense of continuity.
