Are there any shoes that are good for both running and weightlifting? by Praeliumin Fitness

[–]soxandpatriots1 0 points1 point ago

If someone who knows more about this sees this and wants to correct me, feel free, but I think skater shoes are fine for weightlifting. They generally have wide, flat soles, so as long as they're not cushy on the bottom (I don't think they generally are, but I've never really worn skate shoes) you should be fine.

If I click the inline image viewer in RES, it gives me the bird, but if I actually follow the link to imgur, it's the Anthony Davis cereal portrait.

It's different for everyone, but I'm your exact size (both height and weight) and I run in these shoes by Asics. They're not too expensive, and I've had absolutely no trouble with them. I've been running ~25 miles a week in them, but in the fall I was training for a 15k, and had several weeks of ~50 miles or higher, and they worked fine. They seem pretty durable, so I think they can handle a good deal of mileage. They offer great comfort and stability, and I can run for ages in them if I need/want to. They work great for me, and they recently helped me run a sub-19:00 5k!

In general, running shoes have a good deal of padding/cushion, while lifting shoes are meant to be flat and hard so as to provide stability during lifts. Thus, there aren't many shoes that are good for both. I just use my regular every day shoes for lifting, because they're pretty flat and hard-soled.

It differs for everyone, but I've found that having getting the right shoes for running is far more important than spending a lot of time/money getting the perfect shoes for lifting.

There's some more info/discussion on weightlifting shoes here. Basically you want something with hard, flat soles so that you are stable, and get the most out of your force when you're pushing down with all the weight on top of you.

some people just like numbers at the end of their usernames. Also, a lot of people probably use usernames from other sites/accounts that already have numbers attached at the end.

Went from a 4 point game to a 10 point game in 33 seconds at the end of the quarter. That's what kills teams.

Pacers playing with purpose! They have to keep it up though, any periods of slacking/lack of intensity will doom them.

Sunday Night Football is now the #1 most watched show on TV beating out American Idol by Rudenko3in nfl

[–]soxandpatriots1 10 points11 points ago

American Idol isn't on Sunday. Like most high-viewership programs that aren't sports events, it's on sometime in the middle of the week.

Edit: "on" instead of "one"

I feel the need to inform you that the phrase "mind-bottling" is not a real phrase. The phrase you seek is "mind-boggling", as in it boggles your mind, not puts your mind in a bottle. Thank you, that is all.

Maybe I'm missing something, but why are the jerseys all wrong? All the jerseys need to shift one to the left.

Udonis Haslem flagrant foul on Tyler Hansbrough Heat-Pacers Game 5 - YouTube by nbafan4444in nba

[–]soxandpatriots1 9 points10 points ago

You are blinded by your fandom. Hansbrough was not going for the head hit.

GAME THREAD: Indiana Pacers (2-2) @ Miami Heat (2-2) - (May. 22, 2012) by Kapoonfain nba

[–]soxandpatriots1 0 points1 point ago

That was too much. He wasn't even going for ball at all. Hansbrough's foul was rough, but it wasn't malicious. That foul by Haslem had no intent to try and get ball, it was simply to hit Hansbrough as hard as possible.

[–]soxandpatriots1 8 points9 points ago

yeah in my lowly opinion, there's no way thats a flagrant 2, and barely a flagrant 1. He got a whole lotta ball with that block attempt, and then smacked him in the face in the follow through. Obviously a foul, and I suppose it's a flagrant 1, but no way should it be a flagrant 2.

Edit: now->no

yeah I wasn't implying that he doesn't have value, I was trying to say that if he's in the NBA, he should be able to work on his FT shooting and improve. See my reply to EmpressI below.

[–]soxandpatriots1 0 points1 point ago

Oh yeah, Amundson definitely has value. I don't mean that he shouldn't be on a team because he's a poor FT shooter. I was more thinking that he has all this time to practice shooting FTs (because he's paid to be a basketball player and get good at it) so he really should be better. Goes for any poor FT shooter in the NBA in my opinion

GAME THREAD: Indiana Pacers (2-2) @ Miami Heat (2-2) - (May. 22, 2012) by Kapoonfain nba

[–]soxandpatriots1 -1 points0 points ago

How do you shoot 43% from the FT line and be in the NBA? Seriously, I can shoot better than that, and I'm not paid to practice and play basketball all the time.

what? Like a survey or a poll? I trust fans less than I trust the refs. Also that system is not at all realistic or feasible.

easy foul call, sure. But a flagrant? I don't think that push with the left arm is enough to warrant a flagrant.
