Yeah, the thing I hear the most about being single and sexually active is "having no respect for myself". Grr. It is so frustrating, and I'm sorry you have to deal with it. My future-roomie actually said she didn't "trust" me - ie she thinks I will bring men into the room late at night and have wild crazy sex with them while she is sleeping. ಠ_ಠ

But yeah. Hopefully things will get better, I'll cross my fingers for you :)

It sucks. It really sucks. A similar thing happened to me recently, and my future-roommate reacted in a similar way: she ignored me, told me she was insulted by how I was acting. Although ironically, she has had much crazier times in her past. Anyway, we talked about it and we're on okay terms now, but for me it still stings. I've had some rambunctious times, for which I've been judged and thought ill of. My closer friends, who live across the country, are accepting but they still tell me that they worry for me sometimes.

It pretty much stinks. All I've been doing is having fun. Sure, I made some less-than-stellar decisions, but I'm entitled to do so. And real friends shouldn't judge you for it, or at least treat you in any different way. They may not agree with what you are doing, but that doesn't mean they have ANY RIGHT to tell you 1. how you are feeling and 2. what you should be doing. Friends should care about you, and if they are worried they should tell you so, and then drop the issue completely once they've voiced their concern. Your body is yours to do with what you want, and personally, I don't see anything wrong with sharing that wonderfulness with other people.

In regards to what to do with your future housemate and "friends" - I disagree with some of the advice stated here. Definitely wait a while for things to calm down, and then ask her to coffee to talk about things. This shit is better done face to face. Explain your side of things: you want to get out and meet new people - you're not planning on having bareback sex in dark alleyways - you are just not ready for a committed relationship, but you still want to have fun. Etc. Tell her you appreciate her concerns, but the way she talked to you was hurtful and you wish that she could have done it in XXXXXX manner. You don't necessarily have to forgive her, or to be best friends forever, but since you're living together it'd be pretty nice to at least be cordial. That's my opinion anyways. And if you ever want to talk with a sex-positive atmosphere, PM me. :)
