As an addiction counselor, I absolutely agree with you that giving a client a range of options in situations like these is most ethical, but we have to keep in mind that we're only seeing what OP has written here. It's likely there was a lot more to the conversation that was posted, and OP may have just filtered it for us based on the option that she does want, or that she saw as the most feasible.

Or, perhaps she just wants some more help into understanding why this was an option from the therapist, period. As she stated, she is surprised. She might still be digesting it, or seeking outside opinions about this particular option.

Serious question for all of you in r/wow. by ProbablyAPunin wow

[–]something_different 0 points1 point ago

WoW would have been twice as awesome for me when I first started if I had found someone willing to help me out.

This is a really good point. It makes me happy that I actually did have those people! The game was so much more fun then, when people had to work together and be polite, before all of the elitism came out. It's the main reason I quit playing, though (obviously) I still enjoy following the r/wow updates.

I was at a Tegan and Sara show once - which you wouldn't think was really music to stand to, but anyway - and Tegan instructed the entire audience to sit down because she noticed that someone in the front row was stretching his/her legs painfully.

It only lasted one song, but it was glorious.

I'll just pay the extra dollar and I'll hang on to my privacy.

Where does this happen? Honestly, I haven't seen this on any of my receipts, and I never give out my email address.

As a person who would have been more likely to encounter people like this as a result of my job, I can assure that you that this kind of reaction would be incredibly rare.

I am proud to have served, and I would do it all over again if the opportunity presented itself. Thank you for your support! It would have been impossible without people like you. :)

That might work, though you could also try browsing AnySoldier.com or SoldiersAngels.com.

You can also write in the little empty box on the Customs form that is for what the USPS should do with your box if the recipient is no longer available, "To Chaplain" or "To Mental Health".

I wrote up a piece for AnySoldier when I was deployed, and the boxes we got were godsends! They made my job so much easier, because people had a reason to come talk to me without the fear of being labelled "crazy". One women's group sent about 15 pounds of candy and little heart bags that I handed out to hundreds of soldiers on Valentine's Day. Another box had about a billion pairs of socks, and it was during those few weeks that I think I got to meet every single person on the base. It was great!

This is a very good question, and I hate to say that I don't really know a way around it. The fact is that the bigger bases get more of what they need because they have more people, so it's easier to justify supply.

Luckily, I had the support of my team, who could send me things I needed from their bigger base to my little base. Most others aren't so lucky.

The care packages that I did get at my base were immensely helpful, particularly because I was working in a Combat Stress clinic and I had the advantage of the position to know who needed what and being able to hand things out as part of my job.

This is why I usually suggest that people sending boxes out to no one in particular try to send them to a mental health team or a chaplain team. They are almost always in the best position to share what is needed with who needs it most.

I absolutely agree with you, though I want to add that based on some of the conversations that I had with the Infantrymen I deployed with, I think that pride was usually just a cover, unfortunately.

I think this is a bit of an assumption on your part, considering that you have no idea how things were where I was deployed.

We regularly ran out of water, I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who didn't call that a hardship, especially in the Iraqi summer.

I realize that this was not the case for everyone, and I hope it wasn't the case for most. But it was my case, and while I had the support of loved ones, there were many of my patients who did not.

The best way to go about this would be to contact a deployed mental health team member or a Chaplain team. They are usually the people in the best place to know who these members are and what specifically would help them most, anything from books to underwear to soap and shampoo.

I was actually a US Air Force member deployed in support of the Army, so even though the standards of living were different, I still have to say that no, the Army didn't take very good care of my fellow COB members.

As I stated in another post, the COB where I was deployed regularly ran out of toilet paper and water. There was a very small trailer for the PX, and as you can imagine, the supply was quite limited. The DFAC was only open for one meal, and we had to fend for ourselves for everything else. Mail came every two weeks, at most. I won't even get in to the workarounds I had in place just to be able to do my job.

I know quite a few members of the military, and most of them already have loved ones that send them care packages frequently.

As a US vet who deployed as a mental health technician, I can tell you that there are many deployed members who are not this fortunate.

I don't know much about in what conditions US soldiers live when they are abroad, but I'm sure they got all what they need

As a vet, I can say that this is not always true. Just from my own personal experience, the COB where I was deployed regularly ran out of toilet paper and water. There was a very small trailer for the PX, and as you can imagine, the supply was quite limited. The DFAC was only open for one meal, and we had to fend for ourselves for everything else. Mail came every two weeks, at most.

On the other hand, some of my teammates assigned to bigger bases did have everything they needed. It all depends on where you're at and who's in charge of your base.

If you dig around at the MWR site a little bit, it looks like it's a bunch of Active Duty folks singing pop and classic songs, as well as some original material.

Doesn't hurt to check it out for free, I guess!

have your landlord change the lock ASAP.

In addition to this, you might want to keep your routine varied for a few weeks, just in case he is following you. Leave and come home at different times, or maybe even get a friend to pick you up at your door and walk you back to the door every day. Just a small and simple precaution until you are sure he has given up!
