You're missing something huge. You're taking tournament games and applying them to Reddit's solo que mentality, or at least I'm pretty sure a majority of redditors here use solo que.

The reason those tournament games are so entertaining isn't because of picks, it's because of players and strategies using those picks to work together as a solid team. This does not work in solo que, as we all know.

I'm 'semi-pro', imo. I've been in 5 bands, played 40+ shows, and have had one tour. I'm also 19, so these numbers are a bit low still haha.

Diamond is the hardest mineral on earth, as most of us know. It has a 10 on the mohs hardness scale, which is 40x as hard as a 9 (corundum [ruby, etc]). Test the diamond by giving it scratch tests, if it's scratched at all, it's not a diamond.

You're right, good call. I play entirely in dropped Db, (E->D, then all strings down a half step) and it's not hard on my fingers at all.

I play .13s on my les paul, but I wouldn't recommend it to many people. In fact, a band I was touring with had no usable guitars one night, and asked to use mine. At the end of the show he asked me, "how the fuck do you play on these?"

Lots of bends, lots of sustain, slow warm notes that sound beautiful. Don't stop now, your fingers will callous, and your tone will explode.

Edit: I honestly think you have the same problem I had, when I only ever listened to the radio. Those bands you listed bore the shit out of me simply because they're played all the time on radio stations. Just get on pandora, type in a band you know you like, and listen. You'll find something way better in no time.
