Tennessee Man loses $22,000 to cops. No charges filed, no arrest made. "If somebody told me this happened to them, I absolutely would not believe this could happen in America." That was the reaction of a New Jersey man who found out just how risky it can be to carry cash through Tennessee. by Mind_Virusin politics

And then they bring the drug-sniffing dog that is trained to false-alert at a signal from the trainer, giving them "probable cause" to literally rip your car apart. I don't recognize the country I was born in anymore.

Problem with these bots, is you give them an inch, and they'll take a mile.

These kids went missing in 1979. Seventeen years later, the van containing their bodies was found in a 20 ft. drainage canal.

Flux Capacitor. You probably have a lightning rod on the roof that is connected to it.

Looking for a good CB radio. Any recommendations? by Delta-07in Survivalist

[–]snowball_in_hell 1 point2 points ago

Cobra 29 is the trucker's standard, however, for survivalist purposes I would look for a model that also has single side-band capabilities (such as the Corbra 148.)
Rumor is newer units are not the same quality of units made in 1970s-1990s. I have a 29 from 1988 that has outlived several cars.

They've been talking about "cheap" solar cells since the 1970s. Though the cells have improved, they still aren't any where near being cost-effective enough for widespread utilization.

If speed is your thing, why not just use low weight bullets in .40 and forget all the issues with set-back, recoil and muzzle blast in high-end .357 rounds?

Why is it necessary to save 50 feet in the parking lot, but they can wander around a 10 acre big-box store pushing a cart? I agree, medical conditions that require it, even if not obvious, are fine. However, people who game the system to take advantage of the courtesy of others, and pull narcissistic parking games, should be knelt beside their car and given a Coup de grâce right there in the parking lot.

Or they are using a relative's tag to snag a preferential space. (See it every day where I live.) My neighbor ran me to Lowe's once and he did the same thing right in front of me. (Used his elderly mother's tag, even though she wasn't with us.) He does this so frequently he has lost his sense of shame about it.

Why does someone need to save 100 yards in parking, and then can go into the 6 acre Walmart and wonder around for two hours? I remember my Grandmother (who had a permit) deliberately parking in the boonies and dragging an oxygen tank into the grocery store because "the good spots were for people in wheelchairs and using walkers". Every time I see some apparently able-bodied person pull right up front, swing their relative's placard, and skip into the store I picture her and seethe.

I doubt the cops want your dick pictures. I'm not concerned with data transfer of bulky files like pictures and music, and I doubt the government is either. However, the operating system is much more "monoculture" than the devices. If you had a backdoor in iOS, Android, and Blackberry, you would probably cover 99% of smartphones. Industry has served as government agents in past, no doubt they always will. All this law enforcement gadgetry is being paid-for by Homeland Security, and "he who pays the piper calls the tune." If you were a young middle-eastern guy in Detroit (an area with a high number of "off the boat" immigrants) would you be concerned with Uncle Sam downloading all your texts, contacts, and phone logs because you got pulled over for speeding?

Officially "no", but many people do. (I use jacketed bullets most of the time anyway because the smoke from most lube annoys me.)

No, but to assume that any current electronic system is free of government "backdoors" is to deny the revelations that have ALREADY been disclosed in recent years. What we don't know about is probably far more sinister.

Be sure you use a full-length resizing die for range brass. Some older Glocks can cause a bulge that will cause feeding issues.

Amazing how much of this would go away if people didn't put their whole lives on Facebook, and used a phone that (gasp) just made/received calls. (Especially those folks involved in extra- or quasi-legal activities.)
