The mannequin wearing your wardrobe every episode on Full House was hilarious and something I anticipated every episode. What happened to it? Why was it removed?

Lofts in downtown? Yay or Nay by ShuggaCheezin Birmingham

[–]sknolii 3 points4 points ago

If you're comfortable spending the money (usually $1000+), loft living in downtown is great! You're within walking distance of many great bars and restaurants and biking distance to most things on that side of the mountain. Cons can include power bills (high ceilings) and noise (dependent on the building). I'm sure others will chime in on specific buildings.

My Dad and I built a yurt! by isaidDONTPANICin somethingimade

I've seen people build yurts on foundations and decks for semi-permanent housing in the country/woods. If your build was twice that diameter, would you be comfortable with that?
What was the final build price with canvas?

YSK That there is a petition for sparing use of Photoshop in magazines sold primarily to teenage girls by LenaLovegoodin YouShouldKnow

[–]sknolii 1 point2 points ago

Parents don't have to monitor every single thing their children see; however, they do have to monitor their child's behavior. If their child is showing signs of a psychological disorder, it's the parents obligation to discuss it with the child. Body image and physical appearance fit into this category.

At the very minimum, parents should teach their children to think.

Meh, power is a force or ability to act a certain way while a tool is more of a means or implementation.. but we're just splitting hairs here.

Money is more than a tool; money is power.

Even if the petition becomes successful and an un-shopped photo is in every magazine, it doesn't address the issue that their child may be developing psychological illnesses from their disconnection with reality.

Magazines of this nature are made to sell more products. They're funded with ads for music, makeup, clothing, etc. Having a picture of a girl with acne and awkwardness isn't going to change the conversation- rather it may bring additional conflict-- "I dont want to look like her so I better buy _____".

Again, while I'm sympathetic to the parents and the children on this issue, in the end it's up to them to change not the product.

If parents believe their children are ill-affected by certain magazines, they should educate their children about the content or control the content. This petition, while well-intentioned, re-directs blame to a product/ business rather than the parents which is the real issue.

This Happened: "KONY 2012" spraypainted on a memorial from 1889 for the victims of the Boston Massacre by Gemini6Icein WTF

[–]sknolii 0 points1 point ago

Nothing to see here just propaganda funded by JP Morgan by furthering the military industrial complex into Africa. With further research, you'll find that Kony hasn't even been in Uganda for many years. Basically, the whole movement smells of shit and takes advantage of naive highschoolers and those that're too lazy or uneducated to actually study the issues in Africa. They think by watching a movie and buying a 'kit' with bracelet they're actually going to make a difference.. which is more like buying Osama Bin Laden souvenirs than it is doing anything of real activist value.

True. But once it reaches that, it's almost a "whats the point?" situation. You're 'friends' with them but dont want anything to do with them? It just adds an unnecessary level of complexity. IMO of course.
