I feel like Americans really DID overreact to 9/11. I mean, it wasn't the first time the World Trade Centers were hit (I forget when). Granted, they didn't fall the first time. But at 9/11, they were hit by the Al-Quaeda, and they collapsed. Soon afterwards, the war against terrorism started raging like a wildfire on crack again. Every year Americans hold an event in remember to 9/11... I don't get it. I really don't.

And what about Pearl Harbor, December 7th, 1941? There were 2752 record 9/11-related deaths. the attack on Pearl Harbor had 2,117 confirmed deaths and 779 wounded. I don't see a big difference in numbers there. And sure, they were military personnel and not civilians, but what difference does that make? If anything, we should be honoring them more, because they died serving their country. However, I don't see a huge event honoring that.

And another thing. It's really hard for me not to call Americans hypocrites on this. But think about the atomic bombings on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. August 6th and 9th, 1945.. Little Boy, dropped on Hiroshima, is said to have killed approximately 200,000 people due to the blast, radiation poisoning, cancer, and other such causes. And that's only in Hiroshima. If we're going on about numbers and innocent civilians dying and how ~3000 dead Americans is a tragedy, how about Japan? Has anyone really stopped in their tracks and gone, "Hey, today more than a decade ago, hundreds of thousands of innocent Japanese people got nuked to death by America!"? Do you really think about what you did to others, rather than blubbering on about what they did to you?

Also, It's not only Americans who died because of the 9/11/2001 terror attacks. Many Muslims and people from other cultures and nationalities who were in that building or in the vicinity were killed. But following the attacks, ignorant Americans are still pointing fingers at Muslims and Arabs everywhere and accusing them of being terrorists. The TSA was established after the 9/11 attacks. In their decade of operation, they've caught one terrorist. ONE. And the kicker? He wasn't even Arabic!

This is where I end my rant about Americans overreacting about 9/11.
