OSX uses HFS+ but it can use FAT32 which Windows can also read/write. It appears that Apple did release Windows drivers for HFS+ so that he could read the hard drive in Windows but not write to it.

And yeah, trying won't hurt.

When studying full time it would be tough but it is doable.

The minimum wage is $15 an hour so you would have to work ~15 hours a week for rent alone. There are penalties (the good kind) for working on weekends. I think you have to be paid 150% for Satdays and 200% on Sundays.

There aren't really many apartments in the area. There are dorms on campus including some new ones but they are expensive. Most houses in the area will rent for less than $2000 a month. So you just need one person to share with for it to be cheaper than those apartments.

Look on GumTree for share houses/room mates.
