I'm not terrified of giving birth... by flashtigerin BabyBumps

[–]sfak 0 points1 point ago

How much weight did you gain? I am 5'4" and was 128 before pregnancy. I've definitely rounded out everywhere and am hoping breastfeeding will help w the bulk. I was active before, but haven't been doing that great later in my pregnancy (34 weeks and I'm slowing down...)

What kind of cruel joke is this? by lawyerladyin BabyBumps

Totally with you on the sleeping thing. I'm so freaking tired. Almost fell asleep at work today. Now I'm lying in bed and my hips hurt so bad I have to just keep rolling over!

Loving my midwife right now.. by letsgoflyakitein BabyBumps

My midwives told me I can turn down antibiotics, they just have to document that I turned it down

First time moms...how do you feel when you think about actually giving birth? by DialMforMurderin BabyBumps

[–]sfak 0 points1 point ago

Have you thought about taking a birth class? I was terrified of pregnancy and labor before I got pregnant bc I was ignorant. Once I got pregnant I thought, ok this is real, what is the best option for me and baby? I decided for me a natural birth in a birth center w midwives was best. But even if you decide to go w a hospital birth w an OB taking a class is still a good idea. Im not scared. I know it'll be hard work. But I am honestly so excited! There's no reason to be afraid. Our bodies are literally made to do this:) I believe this is my body, my birth, my baby, and I need to take charge of my own health. good luck mama!

I just met my online 'girlfriend', who I'm in love with, for the first time IRL. She's married. Any advice? by VronskyandAnnain relationships

Did you stay with your husband? Did you ever tell him?

I have quite the controversial topic for you, bumpers. by DevilishDreamerin BabyBumps

I'm so sorry I can't even imagine what you're going through:( I had a little "all day" sickness for a couple weeks and that's about it. Please update us to let us know how you are doing!

I guess it's a risk like eating the food in the grocery. To be honest I don't know much about growing, but I've never heard of people using pesticides. The people I do know that grow do it in their homes and I doubt they would use pesticides and such. It's like growing your own herb garden, and who uses pesticides on their own basil? All I'm saying is I believe it's better than any rx meds. Yes I am so thankful for modern science but I wish more people felt comfortable with natural sources of "medication."

You do if you know the growers... Or grow it yourself.

Cosleeper or playard? Or both? by gahhhhhhhin BabyBumps

[–]sfak 1 point2 points ago

Also, pack and plays usually have a little "cradle" space for newborns, at least ours does. If you want one I'd go with that!

Cosleeper or playard? Or both? by gahhhhhhhin BabyBumps

[–]sfak 0 points1 point ago

Why not both? We are just doing a pack and play for now, no crib or changing table. Also she will probably w sleeping w us at the beginning.

Honestly I'm for it. Weed is natural. It's not processed in a lab or covered with chemicals. You need to do what you need to do. That baby needs calories!

Question about ultrasounds... by Hefferella503in BabyBumps

[–]sfak 0 points1 point ago

Agreed. But for normal, healthy, single births there is no real need. I honestly got one to check the sex. Bc I'm impatient.

[–]sfak 0 points1 point ago

Also, no reason to do pelvic exams either. Often they do them after 36 weeks to measure dilation. I will not be having any exams either.

You do not need ANY scans. People waaaaay over use them. I had one fetal assessment scan at 18, mostly to find out the sex:) If you are healthy there is no reason to have them. Don't feel gyped!

Just had my 41 week Sono and NST. When to induce? by APoorEstimatein BabyBumps

[–]sfak 1 point2 points ago

I could not agree more w everyone here. Even if that baby is 10lbs, remember it's not 10 lbs of head!!:) there is no medical reason to induce. Have sex, eat spicy foods, walk, do squats, do some nipple stimulation, get a massage an chiropractic adjustment, get acupuncture. There are a million much safer ways to help induce other than pit or other artificial means. And, as you said, late scans are incredibly unreliable!

Questions about stuff... by girl_on_a_breakin BabyBumps

[–]sfak 2 points3 points ago

Oh, and they check everything w your fetal assessment scan. All the parts of bebe, placenta, cord, cervix.

Stuff will just hurt. Sometimes it hurts when I sneeze. This morning my belly hurt while rolling over.

Is anyone else having a candy/other random junk food kick? by AdjectiveAdverbin BabyBumps

[–]sfak 0 points1 point ago

Haha my SO got a little chunky this winter by eating so much cake w me. He loves cake more than I do, but we kept buying the red velvet cake at Safeway. So. Good.

For a couple months all I wanted was sour candy. Nothing too sweet. That's pretty much passed. I think it's awesome you're quitting smoking. Suck away!:)

Is it weird to already have names picked out pre-conception? by VivatReginain BabyBumps

[–]sfak 1 point2 points ago

I had a pretty good list going on. Why not? It's fun picking out names. Even after you're pregnant you have 10 months to decide. No rush!

[–]sfak 1 point2 points ago

That's only in some states. In Alaska, where I live, you must be paid minimum wage plus tips.
