Facebook Among the Worst Big U.S. IPO Starts in 5 Years - Deal Journal - WSJ by racer2in investing

It's more about the fact that they were hiding FB's revenue projections from the public. Can't play the damn game if you are being lied to now, can you?

Indeed. The same as asking, why can't everyone be above average? It's mathematically impossible.

On second thought, don't answer that.

This is NASDAQ's problem.. they should be forced to eat up all the losses from this.

Yelp review of an Indian restaurant... and its terrifying aftermath by thedigitaldorkin funny

[–]seany 11 points12 points ago

I am north Indian (from Kashmir), and I can tell you first hand that north Indian food is messier than south Indian food. Restaurants serve south Indian food usually because it is more flavourful and closer to what you "expect" Indian food to taste like. North Indian food, comparatively, is much blander, and there are not many choices/dishes. It is a poor mans food because historically, the north has been poorer than the south. North Indian food is also the messy kind because it is mostly eaten with the hand.

Save for Punjabi food.. that is very similar to south Indian food, despite being in the north, but mainly due to their use of onions.

EDIT2: See my edit above. I've got it all backwards.

Yelp review of an Indian restaurant... and its terrifying aftermath by thedigitaldorkin funny

[–]seany 43 points44 points ago

People don't realize that when they are going to an Indian restaurant, it is most likely of south Indian cuisine. Everything they cook has milk in it. If you are not tolerant towards mass amounts of dairy (Indians, despite being the one single population with the least tolerance for milk, probably drink it the most), you will piss out your ass due to lactose intolerance.

As much as people wish it were true, spices don't make you shit any harder (or softer).

EDIT: Sorry guys, I've mislead you. Spoke to my mother and I've got it backwards, as the people down below will tell you. It is Northern food that is common in the west, and Southern food that is less common. Northern food is easier to eat with utensils, not Southern. And finally, it is indeed Northern food that is cooked with milk, not Southern.

Being a Northerner who is lactose intolerant means my mom doesn't cook with milk. She hadn't made me aware that his was a change she was making due to my intolerance, I thought it was just the way Northerners eat.

My apologies!

Jesus, most of the pools I work at are not even that clear, and they run 24/7 pressure filtration with regular doses of algaecide.

He gave up some of them, yes. There are a few that can't be taken away, though. Rights don't simply work on an all-or-none principle. If they did, execution would be the only punishment for crime, and any violation of rights would be considered a crime.

[–]seany 5 points6 points ago

That's most definitely it. Not only that, but they don't treat their universities as for profit research institutions the way America does. It is an education system. Light academic research is always healthy, but it seems as though in America, educational institutions spend the money on research, and then companies step in to take the ideas and make profits, leaving the university with nothing. Ergo, tuition increases constantly.

I would say 99% of males would benefit from a nonexistent sex drive. Not to mention it is a temporary measure. They would be continuously evaluating him to see how often he needs the injections, if at all after a certain point.

K9 unit bites cop that hit a peaceful protester (xpost from r/germanshepherds) by jagershotzzin occupywallstreet

[–]seany 3 points4 points ago

Exactly. The red necks that become cops, I can't really see them having any kind of greater sense of care for dogs. They fucking shoot them on first sight when breaking into the wrong house for fucks sake, so there is no reason to believe cops care about anyone but themselves and their own.

Across Italy police are cracking down on Ferrari and Lamborghini drivers, but not because they are driving too fast. Italy, like so much of southern Europe, is drowning in debt, so police are pursuing drivers to make sure they are declaring and therefore paying taxes. by skreendreamz1in worldnews

[–]seany -1 points0 points ago

I'm not sure this is actually a bad thing. I mean fundamentally, everyone should pay their taxes. The problem is when the state you're paying towards isn't taking care of you. But I don't think much of Europe is in that situation.

Facebook underwriters forced to step in to support stock at 38. Faith in market, +1 by Joe_12265in investing

[–]seany 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, but that kind of mentality won't keep the stock above 35 for long. By setting this thing up to fail (by having to support it), it gives people a bearish outlook on the company. That is not worth the money they pocketed from this IPO.
