Doesn't make my brain feel it. I've never felt an ounce of pain from it.

Though I figured out a while back that Reddit generally isn't the toughest of crews.

What "amazing fact" or colloquialism do you know is actually wrong, and you're sick of correcting people about it? by TestZeroin AskReddit

[–]scruffy01 1 point2 points ago

The thing is I am not saying what they said proves anything. I am saying what they said leaves room for it to go either way.

The only thing i strongly disagree with is the attitude that the war was absolutely over slavery and if anyone disagrees with that then they are barbaric rednecks wanting to send the country back to the slavery times. That attitude is exactly what culminates when the winner of a war gets to write the history books.

They would almost HAVE to write something like that though.

Do you really think they could just write "We are succeeding because we don't like what you are doing!". No, they have to bring up the key example of why they are succeeding. WHY this decision is so important to them. You can't make people fight to the death over losing a state freedom, the masses aren't intelligent enough to be motivated over that. Look how gladly modern people sign away their rights. I personally believe the people making decisions were ticked at losing their power and used slavery as a motivation.

Also, just because people ignore the government over stepping their bounds when it is a benefit to them, does not make it correct. It is a flaw of human nature to ignore wrong doings when it benefits them. It also doesn't make them any less correct when they DON'T like the government overstepping their bounds. The problem is with the silence, not with the outrage.

I kind of disagree. Let's put it into today's terms.

Lets say the federal government decided that gay marriage must be legal in Texas, but Texas disagree strongly, saying they have no right to do that.

Texas succeeds yadda yadda history repeats itself whatever.

History books would say they succeeded because of gay marriage, when it is ENTIRELY possible they were more pissed about being told what to do than what they are actually being told what to do.

What we have in this case is someone like you who could unintentionally identify the wrong thing as the root cause. You could say it is gay rights, when the actual root was federal vs states rights.

What does NOT surprise me, is that the people who won the war got to write the history books, and the slavery thing is the most sure fire way to make themselves appear to be the champions of justice.

My biggest point in all of this rambling, is that it is possible that either view on this issue could potentially be incorrect, so mocking someone for thinking a certain way is short sighted, IMO.

There were a shit ton of explosions that day, perhaps people just didn't keep a written record of every explosion they heard.

To answer your first question, the WTC7 building was filmed falling several blocks away with different audio equipment, whereas the controlled was across the road with audio equipment specifically designed to capture the audio of what they are doing. That seems fairly obvious to me. Also keep in mind the material, the glass in WTC was made to be explosion proof/bulletproof. That would contain the sound a lot better than hotel walls.

I mean come on be fair, what I just said is a pretty damn solid explanation.

As for the shell thing, I can't really argue against it as both sides of that debate would HAVE to be speculation, which is kind of useless.

[–]scruffy01 -2 points-1 points ago

if the fire is on one side of the building (like it was) then it should almost definitely collapse on one side of the building first, not perfectly in the center followed by the outsides creating a perfect fall. That is only logical as a fire on one side of the building is going to take down supports on that side, thus making it topple over.

What should have happened is we see one side of the building buckle and fall over, probably then dragging the rest of the building with it.

What really makes no sense to me is that little building on the top (pent house maybe?) collapses before the rest of the building. How the fuck would a fire that's on the lower floors make the penthouse fall first? That makes absolutely no sense.

I would bet some serious money that was a controlled demolition, whether by the Al-Qaeda or by the US government, I don't know or care, but it looks controlled.

[–]scruffy01 -3 points-2 points ago

That is perfectly straight. In controlled demolitions the middle typically collapses first. If the outsides went first then the middle might spread outwards rather than inwards. Compare it to this picture:

This looks professional:

I honestly haven't even looked into the conspiracy theories surrounding this shit. I just saw the video of that building collapse and it looked absolutely wrong to me.

you don't think people make up insults all the time?

so a fire burned on one side of the building....

then it fell perfectly straight down.

It's not the word that is insulting, it's the hate.

They honestly could call that 12 year old a "vacuum cleaner", which means nothing, but put enough tone and hatred behind it, it could make them cry.

Eliminating that word aint gonna fix shit yo.

You know what your tired ass joke did? Made me roll my eyes at some little barely post pubescent shit head making the same joke that is made on this site 6000 times a day, trying to feel superior to those not even competing.

im pretty tech savvy but I really don't understand entire conversations being done in text form. Especially if it is something personal, you can't really convey the emotion like you can over the phone.

And that isn't even mentioning how much more efficient it is to talk rather than type.

It's not a conspiracy, it is common sense.

If you made grills for a living, and your grill at home broke, do you think you would be more or less able to repair the grill than the average person?

That's what they do for a living, ask truck drivers about the laws surrounding accidents, my old neighbor knew more than most lawyers.

As for the second part, yes, a truck driver employed by a company is backed by that company's lawyers. Yes, high dollar lawyers do win the more difficult cases more often than Joe Blow lawyer's shack right off of I-56

But hey, at this point you are clearly biased and will not listen to reason, so let's talk about something else.

[–]scruffy01 -4 points-3 points ago

Or perhaps that people who drive for a living, are often backed by high dollar lawyers, and know exactly how to work the system, often get less blamed placed on them than the average driver.

Just food for thought.

Yet every near death issue i've had has been at the fault of a semi.

They are overworked, disgruntled, and would run over an orphanage to meet their goals. They don't give a fuck about your safety, and they can and will ride your ass to the point your rear view mirror will be nothing but grill.

And if they rear end you, them being at fault won't help the fact that you are now a slimy stain on the road.
