Saudi woman stands up to Religious Police "This video is on it's way to Twitter & Facebook" by jeanpaulfartrein videos

She's lucky she's in Saudi Arabia. If she stood up to the police in the U. S. she'd be tased.

My employer accidently overpaid me by 1847% yesterday. I had to give them this check due to their accounting error. by joopiusin funny

I remember the first time I brought a paycheque home for that amount. I felt like i was Donald trump or something.

It's the time of year when many website's "This Day in History" articles are about the Salem Witch Trials. And everywhere I look I see historical inaccuracies and people saying "HUNG" instead of "HANGED" by SalemWitchWilesin history

[–]scordatura 1 point2 points ago

Totally agree. The past participle of hang is hanged, when speaking of an execution. "I sentence you to be hanged by the neck until you are dead."

If you're going to execute someone, at least use proper grammar.

Alright, what are your thoughts on this Audible.com? by Finn_Againin AskReddit

[–]scordatura 5 points6 points ago

I don't think very much of them.

I signed on a few years back, on this plan were you get a certain number of credits per month. At the end of the year, I had several unused credits. I went to buy some books, and Audible said, "Sorry. Your credits have expired." total fucking ripoff. I paid a bunch of money for books I couldn't buy.

Some of the books I bought did not function very well. For example, I bought the Autobiography of Benvenuto Cellini. Part way through volume 2, the audio ends. I emailed Audible's customer service, no response from them.

Like a total sucker, last month I bought the second volume of Churchill's word war 2 memos. Same problem. Part way through volume 2, the narrative simply stops. Emailed Audible's customer service. no fucking response.

conclusion: audible sucks, and doesn't give a crap about customer service.

In case anyone from Audible is actually reading this, I'm going to be posting this message or something similar to it every time I see you have the balls to post an ad on Reddit.

Canadian MPs are screwing taxpayers by getting their pension contributions matched 23 TIMES by knukleheadin worldnews

[–]scordatura 3 points4 points ago

I know this comment will likely not be well-received, but here goes.

If you don't pay politicians generously, only two types of persons will run for office: the independently wealthy, or those for whom a middling salary is attractive. That's kind of sad. There was a time when mp's received zero or only nominal salaries, and the labour moment had to fight to get compensation increased to the point where working men could afford to run.

I'm a middle class professional. If I ran and was elected for one term only, going back to work would be tough, for my practice would basically be destroyed. I'd have start over again. To entice someone like me, you'd need a pension plan that would compensate for the huge financial hit I'd be taking.

I want to see politicians well paid, so that parliament is not filled only with the 1%.

It has been 200 years since Canada kicked the US's ass in the war of 1812. by [deleted]in canada

[–]scordatura -1 points0 points ago

Canada kicked ass, no doubt about it, Yankees deny this, but consider that the u.s. Military also claims the u.s. won the Vietnam war.

Can anyone explain why many of the political leaders in the U.S want to attack Iran? by ZeroPhysicsin politics

[–]scordatura 1 point2 points ago

The u.s. sponsored a coup that deposed Iran's democractically elected leader. The leader was subsequently executed by starvation in an iranian jail.

The shah brutally ruled for decades while following american orders.

but then the iranians dared to depose the shah, thus thumbing their nose at their masters.

this is an affront on a similar scale to that of the cubans, and the americans have been itching for revenge ever since.

please don't post a comment about quoting sources. it's all on wikipedia. look it up.

This is just bullshit. I sue fraudsters all the time, and they routinely claim that some large corporation was "instrumental" in the fraud. They do this in the hope that party they blame will pay the fraudster's victims. Then the fraudster will apply for parol, on the basis that the losses have been covered.

One of my secretaries routinely shows up early. As in 90 minutes early. When she needs a day off, she gets it. Extra sick days? No problem. Leave early because her kid is sick? Off you go with no complaint from me.

This year she got really sick. She worked half days for 4 months. She didn't lose a cent from her paycheque.

Don't kid yourself. If your boss isn't a goddamn idiot, he knows you're in early.

I hope I don't sound like a buzz killington, but at my office when one of the staff say to me, "I have no work to do", I really appreciate that. Because believe me, I'll find them something to do, and I'll also remember that they went looking for work instead of surfing the web.

Wearing a mask during the commission of an offense us already an offense. The purpose of the proposed law is to make it illegal to wear a mask during a peaceful assembly.

Don't worry about it. When i owed money and creditors called, I'd talk to them for ages before they'd realize I was mocking them. One raised his voice, so I called him repeatedly for almost two hours. He never called again. Or offer to pay in full, but insist that a meeting take place on your turf.
