With my Lancer in the background.

[spotted] Again in Columbia, MO. A Ferrari 308 just a few days after seeing that Viper. I'm on a roll here, people. by rossiya92in cars

Were you at one of the car shows there? And yeah, I saw the bomber jacket behind the driver's seat.

No no no. What I meant is, I'm currently in the process of paying off a Lancer. Once it's paid off, and I don't owe my bank any more money, I'm going to start either a) saving money for an NSX or b) making monthly payments on one.

Well I'm also 20 and in college, with limited funds and almost no credit history. So hopefully by the time I'm done making payments on the Lancer, that interest won't be anywhere near as bad as it could be.

Lada 2108 was a great car. I learned how to drive in one.

Edit: A6 Quattro.

You had one car break down on you and you decide that you hate all of those cars? That's like having one bad date and deciding to go gay.

Though to be fair, I'd almost feel bad modifying an NSX. I've had the opportunity to drive one before, and I can completely agree with you on the fact that it is one of the most solid, well put-together cars I've ever driven. Very responsive, as well. And as far as reliability, what did you expect? It's an early 90s Honda (or at least that's what this one looks like - I can't see the headlights)

It'll definitely be a fun car, so I'll just go broke for a bit and pay the 8 grand for a twin turbo on it. As far as my daily driver, I just picked up a brand new Lancer ES. Bare bones, even has the hubcaps instead of alloys. But still a blast to drive with the 5 speed. That'll be paid off in a few years, after which, let the NSX +modifications commence.

I'm graduating with a mathematics major in about two years and entering the actuarial field. I have decided a long, long time ago that with my very first paycheck, I will start paying one of these off. Dream car since as long as I can remember.

Oh, I know my Nivas, believe me. 1987 is the issue though - Russian cars have to be at least 25 years old to be exempt from safety and emission regulations. I suppose my comment was more a combination of very wishful thinking and praise of your fine vehicle. My grandmother actually spent a large part of her life assembling 2101 and 2103 engines.

How on earth can you hate a Niva? Screw your luxury, this is without a doubt one of the most capable off road vehicles ever made.

Will you please, please, PLEASE sell it to me? I can't find these in America for shit. This is the most nostalgic vehicle for me. My grandfather drove all of us around the Russian countryside in his Niva all the time back in the early 90s.

Thanks man. I don't think they'd care too much, it's just that I'd rather focus on getting back into my math instead of wasting time retaking a class that I have no interest in/no use for at all. Hopefully I can see what other people would say.

Made an electric cello for my girlfriend out of a soft maple 8x2. by rossiya92in woodworking

[–]rossiya92[S] 0 points1 point ago

I would say just try getting a board of wood and making an instrument out of it. Like, say a 2x2 with two strings attached to it running over a small bridge and coming to some tuning pegs.

Really, once you figure out how to produce a good sound out of an instrument, the rest is just shaping the wood.

Possibly try making a DIY electric violin.

One of my majors in school is music. I've actually never touched a cello before in my life before making this. I'm a classically trained pianist.

As far as woodworking, I have a couple years under my belt. However, I'm much more into cabinet making and general furniture building. This was my first time trying an instrument.
