I teach the upper division biochem lab at my uni each fall. Last year I was teaching the second lab which is a straightforward lab about ID'ing an unknown plasmid following an enzymatic digest. I think I left for a grand total of about 5 minutes for an emergency bathroom break and came back to find a student eating an agarose gel.

I've also taught the gen chem labs and had a student come into my lab crying after I reported him to the department head for cheating on a lab report. This kid probably had 4 inches and 50 lbs on me, and was a good lacrosse player. Apparently his frat didn't appreciate getting in trouble with the uni for providing their members with old lab reports to plagarize.

In all seriousness, fuck every single one of the guys involved in this, and I hope the girl is eventually able to recover somewhat from such a horrible experience. I personally hope they get locked up for years, then hit by a bus on their way out. With 6 billion+ people on the planet, I'm pretty damn sure society is better off without these kinds of people around.

I'm going to assume that you know the emergency brake still works, and that by now you know that the steering wheel will generally lock on a car once it is turned off, but can by unlocked by turning the key slightly forward (just don't engage the starter).
