[PC] Anno 2070 3/5 "Good game but has bugs and hard to play." by ebookitin VideoGameReviews

[–]rightrabbit -1 points0 points ago

All of what your describing dont sound like bugs, but rather a misunderstanding of how to play the game. Granted, anno could do a better job holding your hand, but I really don't think those are bugs, just not getting how it all works.

Looks like these were maybe done in C4D? Kinda has that feel... think that's maybe right?

It's very not buggy, I've played with lots of people, and we've all been impressed with stability. If the gameplay is your thing is another matter. Its like an even slower civ in a lot of ways, but not turn based, and revolving around supply and demand of goods. I love it, others may not like such a slow paced game.

iPhone icons for the game. Before and after. by samirghobrilin gamedev

counterpoint, if you want a straight down hard drop shadow Just add a drop shadow as a layer style, put the angle at 90, and size at 0. Distance is however far you want it and same with opacity. This is a non-destructive approach, always better.

On top of that, if you wanted, for some reason, an all black version of a layer, don't bring your curves/levels down. just do a color overlay of black as a layer style. Again, be non-destructive at all times in PS, unless you have no other choice. When you start 'shoping without being destructive, you'll see the quality of your work start going way up.

Well, the Maxx is a comic series in which the main super hero is occasionally hinted to be nothing more than an insentient rabbit.

Help me out Reddit, great idea for an app, need someone who can make it happen. by Spaceman_Spiffsin jobs

[–]rightrabbit 1 point2 points ago

Money, and there's no two ways around it. Sorry :(

I've been involved in mobile app development since the first days of the app store, and any time I tell someone I create apps, there's about a 50% chance that they have "a great idea for an app." What is your job in the development process if its not to be the funding? To give me an idea for an app? I have 500 I'd build for myself first, if I had the time, none of which I'd need to share the profits with.

You've got to find the money, raise the money, or buy a book and start learning. And lets not forget that you can't just release a great app and make millions anymore. You've got to have a plan that goes past the release day.

Don't let all this discourage you. If you're committed, you can do it. But you shouldn't be asking "how can I find a developer for free?" you should either be asking "How can I find an investor" or "How can I learn how to make the app."

Raising awareness - Being different isn't always a bad thing :) by DidIGetThatRightin pics

[–]rightrabbit 2 points3 points ago

"Real Friends don't count chromosomes." Funny, and I agree with that.

"These words hurt, but don't describe me at all... I have feelings just like your friends." I'm very sure that's true.

"Being different isn't always a bad thing" I often agree with that... but not in this case. If with the wave of a wand, you could give a child down syndrom, or take it away, you'd be a maniac to give it to them, or to leave them with it.

Be friends with someone with down syndrom, treat them like a fellow human being, respect them for the struggle they go through that you can't comprehend, or for their own strengths outside of their disability. But being different is having red hair instead of brown. Down syndrome is not "being different," it is a disability, and to pretend it's not play's down the people who struggle with it every day, both as people with the disability, and as the people that love them.

The message here that is good "I am not defined by my disability. I am a person with my own unique traits, and common experiences." The message that is bad, "Down syndrom isn't a disability, it's just a different, non-negative way of being, like having big feet."

Can I see your platformer/sidescroller terrain tileset? by rightrabbitin gamedev

[–]rightrabbit[S] 1 point2 points ago

I mean something like the top half of this: http://imgur.com/rqdQp. I'm just looking for trends in what tiles are included, like for example in the image I linked there's tiles for a ≥2x≥2 box, 1x1 box, 1x≥1 and ≥1x1 boxes, inside corners for the ≥2x≥2 box, and outside decorations. Thats my current plan (plus lots of varieties, all tillable with each other). I don't need advice on how to achieve this, I need trends in how people set up their terrain tile sets, so I can create a tileset that gels with the most common (and hopefully easiest) implementable path.

My goal is to provide attractive, easy to implement assets to game developers who don't want to worry about the art. If I start making a tileset with one approach, then another approach makes itself known to me that would be better (more common/ easier to code), I either have to not go that way, or abandon my first draft of tiles.
