How do I keep positive? It's easy. I don't even know you.

There was no pledge to do some research. He plead and embraced ignorance in order to avoid getting into tough arguments. That's just about the worst quality I can possibly think of for a leader.

Ah, yes. If an issue is too complicated, ignore it! That's a great quality in an elected leader.

So my former highschool is refusing to allow same sex couples to attend the prom. Anyone want to help me make this a public relations nightmare for them? by drmockelfishin atheism

[–]rhcpds7 1 point2 points ago

Agreed. I would support any and all outrage over this if it turns out to be true, but Reddit should be careful not to overreact since it doesn't seem like we have all the facts.

This issue came up 6 years ago at the same high school and the principal allowed same-sex couples to attend (the same principal is still there) -- see the article below.

Reddit, please don't overreact based on hearsay evidence and a Facebook group.

I want to hear from the first generation of Redditors. What were things like, in the beginning? by Pantzzzzlessin AskReddit

It's hard to remember a time before cat pictures and rage comics...

There used to be a lot more substance on the front page with much more of a tech focus.

I would recommend r/TrueReddit.

George Clooney Witnesses War Crimes in Sudan's Nuba Mountains by bensherein videos

"Al-Shabaab refuses to allow food and humanitarian aid to starving Somalis."

True. Nothing you've said refutes that.

Arguments as to whether aid is a good or bad thing are a completely different story.

I'll grant you that some aid has gone to Somalia, but Al-Shabaab militants have repeatedly prevented aid from getting to the people who have needed it, exacerbating a terrible famine. Much of the Red Cross's work has been completed against the stated wishes of Al-Shabaab (you'll notice that Al-Shabaab is never mentioned on that ICRC webpage). Given that this video is from this week, I'm more interested in the facts on the ground right now. Al-Shabaab banned the Red Cross on January 31. They banned Save the Children a few days ago. In total, they've banned about 20 food aid organizations, including the UN World Food Program, UNICEF, WHO, and the Danish Refugee Council. The Red Cross was one of the last ones left.

The statement is absolutely true. They refuse to allow aid to starving Somalis.

Where are you getting your facts? Al-Shabaab banned the Red Cross from Somalia earlier this year.

What is the most mind blowing documentary you wish everyone would watch? by will7in AskReddit

[–]rhcpds7 0 points1 point ago

Waste Land. One of my favorite movies of all time. Great documentary about a Brazilian artist now living in the US who goes back to Brazil and creates art with garbage from the biggest dump in the world, with the workers there as his subjects. Very inspiring.

So awesome to see this video here! I spent a night at that same hut with Alan, the guy in the video, about 18 months ago. I was one of those people the locals thought was crazy. Amazing, amazing place.

Every time there is police car in a movie, commercial, video game, or any other type of media, you will hear a soundbyte of a woman on the police radio saying "Plain and simple, 128."

I first heard it in Grand Theft Auto 2, and have heard it about a million times since. Sometimes I hear it several times a week while watching TV, and when I'm with people I scream about it, and everyone thinks I'm crazy.

Kid Rock is preventing his music from being sold on iTunes. To whom should I write to ensure this situation does not change? by woofwoofwoofin AskReddit

I feel like the record labels still play a pretty important role in giving artists like Kid Rock mainstream success. Kid Rock would be just another random artist putting his music up on iTunes if it wasn't for his record label.
