Great questions. I do not know the ansewers but i think everyone is different. We all have different goals. Some people want to make the money and retire early. Some do not know anything else but work. Others want to just kick it at the beach. Others need to work their ass off for minimum wage.

Rarely have I ever agreed with anyone on r/Pakistan. but you are totally on the mark.

Its amazing we live in a nation (and many other nations suffer the same issues including the USA) where sex education is being taught by the pornography industry. Men and women are learning about sex by porn stars. The future looks very bleak.

But its not just Pakistanis who are learning the lesson from the worst teachers its people worldwide even in the so-called sexually open West like the USA.

When I talk to women about sex. Some of them have told me that they try to mimic porn girls because they "feel" thats what the guys want.

Even some guys I know have complexs about sex because of the porn they watch. A few guys i know wont have sex because they are embarrassed they can not do what porn guys do.

This is a issue that needs to be addressed in many forms.

I do not remember the guys name but he was a Pakistani guy (seemed like a real nice guy) who worked for Siemans (the German company) and he did a 3 hour program (I think of PTV) explaining the entire issue.

I do agree with much of what you are saying. But I think you are being overly theoretical (my humble opinion mind you).

I can give a few examples. For example lets take Apple Computers and Qualcom. Both of those companies (regarding their USA operations) make it very clear that if an employee is not putting in 12+ hour days 5 to 7 days per week...they need to simply leave. That is one reason why both of those companies is full of Asians (Pakis, Chinese, Indians, etc) who are use to competing nonstop day after day. For them "not working and not competing" is un-natural.

I work in a super type-A personality industry. if someone does not work 10 hours a day 6 days per week...that person is gonna get laid off in 4 months.

In todays world (and for sure the world of tomorrow) for people to reach the "top" they must work relentlessly. People who do not devote their lives to work are just gonna be relegated to poverty. The world is moving towards a truly globalized economy. Unless one can compete they are gonna be relegated to poverty.

Thats my 2 cents on the matter.

in some countries working overtime for no additional pay is considered normal.

i personally work overtime because i know i need to - to keep my job. my fundamental philosophy at work is "i will outwork anyone". that is the only reason IMHO I am #1 at my job.

if someone does not want to work overtime or get paid for overtime they can go do government work or some other job.

people are not stupid. they know the 'rules of the game'.

as a member of the oil industry. all i can say is money talks. if resources are found in Vermont I can assure you they will be exploited to the maximum. its nice that we as a society feel we live in a participatory democracy. but lets not kid ourselves. the exploitation will happen when it is necessary.

all those cows in Vermont are damaging the environment as well. but no one wants to take that form of destruction away.
