This was not the Borg I was expecting.

Agreed, however, in this instance there is no empirical evidence to support the claim that access to firearms reduces violent crime.

Or, to put it another way: You have stated that you have eaten five apples, however, there is no evidence of apples. This does not prove that you ate five apples, nor does it prove that you did not eat five apples. The only thing it proves is that there are no apple cores to to produce as evidence that you ever ate anything at all. The burden of proof is upon you to produce five apple cores to make the statement a fact.

That is a contradiction.

This is also a fallacy. You can not prove violent crime will decrease in a particular area of America by enacting an open or conceal carry policy just the same as someone else can not prove that restricting firearms access will decrease violent crime in a particular area of America since the vastness of America's geography leaves the potential for error too great due the social acceptance of fire-arms in some areas and social stigma in others.

TLDR: I can carry a gun in Texas because people are used to loaded fire arms. I can not carry a gun while walking down Broadway because people are not used to seeing loaded firearms.

In order to prove your "fact", you would have find one place that is both equally accepting and fearful of firearms and divide that place in half, with one side being granted firearms rights and the other side having restricted firearms rights, Side A & Side B. This place would have to, I assume, have a higher than average crime rate for an urban area so as to show a measureable increase or decrease in gun violence specifically, and general violent crimes (crimes that do not neccessarily involve guns, like spousal abuse, or bar brawls). You would then have to have an impossibly long time (at least fifty years) to measure the effects of the legislation upon the populace of "The Gun Side" (Side A) and, "The No-Guns Side" (Side B).

The problem with such a study is that it would be impossible to produce as you would actually need a literal clone of the city. Again, in order to accurately gauge the effect of the legislation, you would need two sides, one that allows guns and one that does not, however, you would need to use a paralell universe and swap the sides so that in Universe A, Side A would have guns and Side B would not, and in Universe B, Side A would have no guns and Side B would have guns. Is this execessive? Of course, but if you want a true scientific examination that leaves little to no room for error, I can see no other alternative than to eliminate any Socio-cultural acceptance or stigma, as well as geographical necessities (like needing rifles and shotguns in rural regions of Appalachia for protection from very large wild-life).

TLDR: Your argument for or against gun-rights is only valid under certain specific circumstances.

Drawing dicks, throwing a chair and flipping tables while you bitch about how shitty Madden is does nothing to keep them from raping you.

Buying stock in EA, however, will at least wash the stink off. https://www.google.com/finance?client=ob&q=NASDAQ:ERTS

It's not just an American thing, if that's what you're insinuating. Flags act as a physical, graphical symbol of an agreement between people, however big or small the flag, whatever the size of the agreement, be they nation states, youth groups, churches, or garage bands.

Rule #1: Never let your flag fall to the ground.

How Do I Pay for College? by refuchin Frugal

I have. To get a legitimate gig at the moment, and not be classified as a Blogger (or a general waste of time and white space) I do.

How Do I Pay for College? by refuchin Frugal

[–]refuch[S] 0 points1 point ago

The only problem with with my career is that I'm studying journalism. My field isn't desirable for making a lot of money, and with the changing mediums of journalism (Facebook, the internet) the prospects for earning a lot of money aren't very high considering I know no one famous, don't have the financial support of family, and the fact that no one wants to pay for a newspaper anymore. My options upon graduation are only marginally better than they are now as a freelance writer. With a degree it's easier to get a gig or staff position on a contractual basis because I have a piece of paper that says I'm competent, and a portfolio that proves I can hunt down leads.

[–]refuch[S] 5 points6 points ago

Yes, and its completely counter productive for my field of study. Besides, I prefer to have a prefix and a suffix at the end of my name as well as a head full of knowledge. As financially feesible as it would be to study without getting a degree, it also only provides little external validation.

A Roth Co riot shield? Fuck that fake Chinese knock-off non-sense. Anyone that buys this for anything other than dorm room decoration is a fucking idiot and deserves to have it broken atop the head.
