What is dangerous about Gueant's comments is his blaming of cultural relativism on the left. There are many western right-wing people who are actually jealous of people living in islamist countries because their laws are fairly close to what an ideal fundimentalist christian country would be.

No phreaking still works really. Until about 2001 you could still bluebox through places like chile if you could find a free calling card number, but that's all gone now (replaced by out-of-band signalling). Redboxing still works on some old payphones but it's such a lame trick I don't think it's worth bothering with.
