How I feel as a final year mech eng grad by rachemus_primein McMaster

There have been a lot of good memories made but with 8 courses coming to a close to finish my degree, the hate of the love/hate relationship is feeling strong. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and only a week to Kipling :)

I am R.A. Salvatore, first-time Reddit visitor. I've been writing fantasy novels for 25 years now, and have leaped into video game development with both feet. What a ride! by RASalvatorein IAmA

The Crystal Shard is the first one written of The Icewind Dale Trilogy, which takes place after The Dark Elf Trilogy (Homeland being the first). I read them in the order they were written after finding The Crystal Shard in a used book store. It made more sense to take the same path that R.A. Salvatore did in adventuring with the characters than to read them in chronological order. But that is my opinion.

Should I be interested in engineering? by isdevilisin engineering

I am a female mechanical engineering student going into my 6th and final year of my degree program. 6 years because I was interested in engineering and my university was chosen mainly because it has a common first year where after you pass first year, you get to choose your field/program. I chose materials engineering and made it through second year no problem but I learned that what a "materials" engineer does is not what I wanted to do. I personally hate chemistry, thermo and phase diagrams. I went on internship in the mechanical field doing CAD work on small scale projects and immediately switched into Mech. The work load of an engineering student is brutal and unless you have some form of work experience it is impossible to know what sort of an engineer you want to be. Here's a few things that might let you know if you are cut out for the field.

-do you like to take things apart and finding out how things work? -do you like problem solving? -are you mathematically inclined? (i.e. math and thinking with math are easy for you) -do you like robots, lasers, machinery, computers, buildings, ect.? all these things have been engineered by someone in some field of engineering.

I don't know anyone who has kicked themselves for completing their degree, but I do know a lot of people who have not finished for multiple reasons. If you want to succeed you will need a good support group of fellow students, the ability to focus for long periods of time, time management skills, and some personal drive to finish it and love what you will be doing after all the exams and long nights doing homework.

We call that grazing, I worked at a Wal-mart for 4 years and saw multiple people sampling or giving their kids food that wasn't paid for. WTF is wrong with people?

I'm no longer 18 and in the best shape of my to date running career, what's a realistic time goal for a 5k? by rachemus_primein running

Thanks. It was hard when I started to run again and I didn't have the endurance to do the usual base line of the 12 minute run. So I started with timed track runs twice a week with one gym day for strength & core. I then added 2 minutes every week to those runs and have gone from 8-22 minutes. Main focus has been a continuous run no matter how slow the shuffle. Some times I cover a good distance sometimes not. Now that I have started running outdoors I'm getting into distance runs with varied terrain so that I have a sense of how fast or how much faster I'm getting with more course like conditions. Yes goals have changed from beating pb to losing weight and completing a 5k without massive struggling. I still can't seem to find my "pace" but I think that will come with time.

Treadmill to outdoors is a huge change since your body is now using muscles in ways a treadmill can never duplicate, like uphill and downhill form, uneven terrain, and the changes of pace required for different points in a cross country race environment. Talk to the cross-country coach and get some pointers on the type of training you need to be doing, i.e. hills, distance and speed as well as strengthening exercises. Don't worry also at 16 your body is also still changing quite a bit and it's going to take time to adjust to this huge change in your exercise routine.

I am a female engineering student 23, worked from the time I was 14, put myself though school, living on my own since 18, and deem myself smart, driven and successful. There aren't many women out there who can recognize the amazing qualities you have or are mature enough to know that a guy who can support and look after himself is getting to be rare in our generation. I suggest looking for women with a brain in their head, a similar sense of humour and common interests. Get into shape if you are not in shape and don't worry about the ugly thing, yes we can pick up on it. Dress nice and keep good hygiene. You'll meet the right girl in time, online dating is good but you do have to weed through a lot of people and sadly most people judge you on your pictures alone. Good Luck!

Waxing gone wrong by unhappyvajayjayin TwoXChromosomes

You might want to let things grow back more than usual and let your body heal a bit before your next wax. Lights off or dim candle light is a good option. Humor about it I also agree with since real life is never like a porno and real people have hairy bodies, moles, fart, fall over, undress ungracefully etc. If you want to try a more natural approach a small body groomer or electric trimmer gets short but not too short without the itching and prickliness of the growing in part. Although I know there is nothing like the all over smooth. Honesty and confidence are sexy.

Yeah seems the best route of action to go to a doctor. I'm just concerned that I will need to continually pull the nail up and almost out to clip it back from now on and in turn I will make it worse. Especially if I'm pounding on it three times a week.

Interesting, I stick with my Saucony Guides for road and trail running and have never used any type of cleat or minimal shoe. What's the best condition or approach for a barefoot run in terms of equipment and ground surface?

Honey garlic, green onion, garlic, a shot of cooking cherry and a shot of Worcestershire. A very nice marinade.
