What does /r/motorcycles think of my first bike? by needsmorememein motorcycles

[–]qft 0 points1 point ago

Hey, since I'm assuming you know these bikes so well now, do you know where I can find:

  1. A good tutorial on deleting the bitch seat bar
  2. A good place to find saddles (closer to stock, not the small seat you've got there?)

I'm having trouble since these bikes are so old. Thanks!

Awesome looking bike, by the way. Mine's just stock.

Oh my god, that's my exact bike but I didn't even recognize it after all the work that's been done to it...

Does anyone know anything about car suspensions? by ElLecheroin Denver

Another shop suggestion: Elder Auto, near I-25 and Evans. Those guys are so great it's unreal.

I'd check the struts and mounts, and also the sway bar endlinks... if the rubber got all soft it might do something like that (though it's usually accompanied by a 'clunk')

Freshwater spincasting rods - what do you suggest? by qftin Fishing

I'm usually buying my go-to rods (only one or two) in the $60-ish range. I'll check those out, thanks.

No kidding. She's on an ancient desktop they lug around every time they travel anywhere. For years, I've been pushing for a laptop, and to back up the file to something like Dropbox or Google Docs frequently.

Saw BB King last night. Took some pictures. These two were my favourites. by SpaceMarinesin Music

[–]qft 0 points1 point ago

I'm going to see him this summer. Super excited.

I have a buddy who "accidentally" opened for him. He was in the navy and was stationed near Memphis, where BB King has a club. During his time off he and a few buddies would go play in the street near the club for fun. One night an opening act dropped out from the Club, so the manager asked my buddy and his friends to open - just play some "background music" while people filter in waiting for the main act.

He didn't know who the main act was and didn't really care, he was just happy to play in the club. Suddenly a guitarist shoots off a few notes behind him, he turns around and realizes he just opened for BB King. BB King shakes his hand, thanks them and asks them to go ahead and sit in the front row, relax and have some drinks while he plays.

Apparently he's a really nice guy.

My mother is a writer too. She's convinced that hackers are everywhere trying to steal her books (I've told her "Unless your last name is something like Grisham they're probably not after you").

So, her idea of security is to save her document to a FLOPPPY DISK. She actually rotates through two, one of which goes to the safety deposit box after each revision. Yes, this is the year 2012.

I've tried, but as the OP can attest, it's really not worth talking about any more. They'll do what they want to do, dammit, regardless of what "computer people" say they should be doing.

MFA, how does this look for a formal event (and what kind of pant?) by littlebrittle77in malefashionadvice

[–]qft 0 points1 point ago

Coming from another dude who isn't very good at this, don't get cutesy with stuff until you understand how to do so. For a formal event, it's better to dress a little conservatively than risk a disaster because you don't understand how to put together an unusual look properly. I'm in the same boat as you.

What does MFA think of my prom attire? by zstrick741in malefashionadvice

[–]qft 1 point2 points ago

First reaction is "Doesn't matter, had sex"

I'm no MFA genius, this is just one dude's opinion. I think the black suit, black vest, red shirt, silver tie just isn't a good look, (it screams "overly dramatic" to me) but hell, you're in high school, everyone probably thought you looked boss. You can get away with it there so I wouldn't stress. I would stay away from it during other formal events though.

Reddit, my friends call me a scumbag because I automate my work when I was hired to do it manually. Am I? by CS-NLin AskReddit

[–]qft 1 point2 points ago

You should really scale back how efficient it is. Put your numbers at 92% accuracy and 105 records a day. If you can't cut back on the accuracy, at LEAST cut back on the number of records per day until you're just slightly better than the rest.

You might make less money, but you also won't have your position (along with your coworkers' jobs) eliminated when they figure out what you're doing... which probably won't take long if you keep those astronomical numbers going.

"We conclude therefore that Rupert Murdoch is not a fit person to exercise the stewardship of a major international company" by harpmanin worldnews

Interesting. This morning it was a top story, with a picture, on every site except for Fox, where it was relegated to one of the tiny links below a story about some dude knowing another dude was going to be a rude speaker.

Want to see something funny? Look at the front page of CNN, MSNBC and the BBC web sites. Now look at Fox News. Take a look at where this story resides on each.

Question 2 has been answered pretty well, let me take on Question 1 for you.

A 6850 will probably run BF3 on Medium settings just fine provided these two things:

  1. You have a good processor (Core i5 for instance) and 4+ GB RAM
  2. You're running at a resolutions below 1920x1080 (full HD may be too much)

I did a lot of research into BF3 performance when I was running a crappy rig. Basically, it's a demanding game and you'll want to have both a good vid card and good processor.

Things that can help:

FXAA injector - it's an alternative to using the costly anti aliasing in the game, and provides color correcting as well

There's "performance" tweaked versions out there you can find too. I've seen them by Danoc1 and MrHaandi. Those are old links so make sure you're getting the newest version.

There's some performance tips here too.

What's everyone's opinion on the AS Val post patch? by Slippyyin battlefield3

[–]qft 0 points1 point ago

I couldn't agree more. I'm mediocre with most weapons in this game but ABSOLUTELY DEADLY with the pre-patch VAL. You barely needed to burst fire the thing... as long as you can aim for the neck area and pull the trigger, they were DEAD.

The small mag size forced a lot of duck in/out of cover gameplay but that's fine... it was exciting and the quick reload speed still meant I could take out a group of 2-3 enemies provided I had cover handy.

I liked it so much, I ran it as Assault very often.

The post-patch accuracy isn't quite like it was due to the recoil. The .2 second advantage of not having to burst with the VAL before was very often the live-or-die difference in open confrontation. The extended mag doesn't make up for it.

Still one of the best weapons in the game but I'd take the old accuracy over the extended mag in a second.
