You guys may have BOOBS... but I have....... by rocklette35in funny

Thank you for actually stopping to take your picture. And congrats.

I don't know if this is allowed but, I'll try anything: My kitty is missing. Please be on the lookout. by maniaci137in Michigan

[–]powerwordnurse 1 point2 points ago

Except this isn't about a cat. It's about a fellow Michigander in need of help that can be easily given. So easy that it simply requires watching for his lost, scared pet. If you can't give a damn about your fellow Michigan resident, then why bother coming here? OP, your kitty is precious, and I hope you find him/her.

UPDATE: My nephew just came up to me and told me his "daddy was hitting" him. by savethekittensin AskReddit

Not here to give advice or say what you did right or wrong. You didn't ask to be pulled into this situation, but as a fellow human being I thank you for trying your best to do what's right. Keep on keeping on.

I really want to ask this question, but I feel that it might be unwise. (booted from /r/funny) by Disco_Drewin eCards

Some douche asked all the girls this question at work and we reported his ass to HR. Maybe funny in certain circumstances, but incredibly rude and sexist in the workplace.

Morel mushrooms. I don't normally enjoy mushrooms, but these have amazing flavor. Also note that they can be sold for ridiculous amounts of money.

Themed wedding? by scarysaurusin weddings

[–]powerwordnurse 0 points1 point ago

Not annoying at all! Where I'm from, people often have weddings in barns, so I LOVE the opportunity to attend fancy, formal weddings! For my own wedding, I almost chose to use black, white, and green. My brother and his wife used black, white, and pink. You can do a lot with or without accent colors.

Did anyone here make their own bouquets? by [deleted]in wedding

[–]powerwordnurse 0 points1 point ago

I made my bouquet with flowers I bought half off at Hobby Lobby. You can check their website to see if their sale is going on. I specifically wanted some of their flowers because of how real some of them look.

Best gift for new nurse by DirtySquirrelin nursing

I got a beautiful white ceramic watch for a graduation gift from nursing school, and I love it. A nice analog, waterproof watch is something most any nurse can use.

What to do in Petoskey... by powerwordnursein Michigan

[–]powerwordnurse[S] 0 points1 point ago

Thanks, everyone! We had a fun mini-trip. We managed to get mothers' and fathers' day shopping out of the way at American Spoon, Cutlers, and some outdoorsy shop that I can't recall the name of. It was chilly or we would've walked by the water. What a beautiful city, though! We each received a $5 voucher from our hotel which we immediately lost but gained in entertainment value. Thanks for the ideas!

$10 of material (but only used about $5 of it) and 2 hours later (only because I didn't use a sewing machine) I have my something blue! by woowiein weddingplanning

I totally just bought my garter (and tossing garter) on Etsy. I really envy those of you that can sew pro! *Typing error fixed.

Blurring the lines? Small rant. by wilburtinoin nursing

[–]powerwordnurse 2 points3 points ago

Yep. A few weeks ago, a good friend asked me if she should be concerned that her poop changed colors. My dad recently asked me if he has gout because his toes are sore. It comes with the territory, but make sure to always remind people that you aren't trained to diagnose. In cases like these, I usually ask about a few of the person's symptoms, followed by asking how he or she feels about it. They usually determine on their own whether or not they should seek medical attention, but it helps me to know if I should encourage the person to seek urgent care or make an appointment. In my experience, when my family is asking about an ailment, they've already thought about visiting their doctor but they're nervous or want reassurance that they're making the right choice.
* But if you really don't want to know about your friends' medical issues, tell them straight up. They'll get the point after a while.

Male maid of honor? by PharmaDeein weddingplanning

As much as I love "dude of honor", omg's response would probably work best in your programs and if the party is introduced at your reception. :)

What is the dumbest thing you have ever gotten into trouble for? I'll start by redlightnetherlandsin AskReddit

[–]powerwordnurse 0 points1 point ago

In fourth grade, my friend was kicked in the back by a cafeteria monitor. Crazy lady's reasoning: my friend was sitting on her feet at the lunch table. She was eating quietly and was a really good kid. I told my parents that night because I wanted that woman to lose her job.

I found this on Facebook. I'm all for jokes and nursing jokes, but this one was just dumb. If I'm the only one, I'll shut up. by 5ft11flipin nursing

I remember that post. And your statement makes me hurt inside. :(

What's a job interview like in hospitals for nurses? by nojohndoein nursing

[–]powerwordnurse 1 point2 points ago

I agree with the first part of this answer, but I have had 3 interviews in the last three months with no clinical scenario questions. Depends on the hospital, I guess. It's always good to be prepared, though. One thing I did to prepare myself was writing out a couple paragraphs about my three best and three worst qualities. In every interview, I was asked these in some form or another. For the negatives, I always try to have an example of how I've worked on improving that part of myself. Just something to keep in mind, OP. :)

Ceremony Solo Suggestions? by Sonja_Bluin wedding

[–]powerwordnurse 1 point2 points ago

I'm having a church wedding, too, and struggling with the same issue. One song that keeps coming to mind is "I Will Be Here" by Stephen Curtis Chapman. More romantic lyrics are hard to find.
