I think I sometimes fall victim to hype for the reasons mentioned in the original post, but I also like the community aspect of a huge new game. It's kind of rare that I buy games day 1 anymore, but when I do, the memories of talking about it with friends/internet people are sometimes more fun than the actual game.

And that's not even taking into account online games that are hugely hyped and well populated with other players who are 1) equally excited about it and 2) learning the game and on the same footing as you. Nothing beats my first few weeks with Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, since it was such a great new experience for seemingly everyone I met on Live.

Still would love a new Banjo-Kazooie like the 64 ones... The vehicle gimmick in Nuts and Bolts was ok, and the actual hub and a few of the other worlds for the game would have still have worked well for that type of game, but I missed real exploration and discoveries.

I was just thinking to myself today about Zelda 2 would've been received if it was released today. It's pretty much everything people are asking for in that it's incredibly challenging and nothing like the other Zelda games.

Yeah, would love to do that on a return trip. Im keeping my eyes out for the suggested ones during dinner and nights out and just generally going for anything that looks good.

I think one of the first RPGs i really enjoyed was Paper Mario on the n64. It's a lot lighter than 99% of the other RPGS out there, obviously, but it still holds onto a lot of what makes RPGs so addictive in the first place (leveling up, acessories, etc.).

The battles are almost all avoidable because the enemies show up on the overworld as you're playing, and if you can avoid them you can avoid battling.

Radiant Historia on the DS also uses a similar system, and is much more in the vein of "traditional" RPGs.

The pins are kind of cool I think... i didn't realize the deadline was so close, I was 50 away. Oh well my first year in gold as a result of not having nearly as much nintendo shit lying around to register I guess.

First game I ever pulled an all nighter on. My uncle had it on his computer and I played unti labout 5 in the morning. I think I was on the very end and never figured out what to do :( Tried it again on Steam but got stuck about halfway since I didn't get a song I needed earlier or something.
